Tomorrow my DS flies to Brazil for a 10 day business trip. Has anyone ever been in Rio? Is there anything he should look out for besides muggers? Is the water safe? He will also be in a place called Belo Horizonte for most of the trip.

I went over and gave him lots of mom hugs this evening, and prayed for him.

Never been there, but it sounds like a great adventure!

Tell him to do everything in a group and he shouldn't be too open to muggers.

I've been watching his flight path on the Delta Airlines website. He went from Seattle to Atlanta, then waited for the flight to Rio. He's currently over the Caribbean. The plane is supposed to land at about 3:30 a.m. Pacific time, which is 9:30 a.m. in Rio.

He got there ok, but his luggage didn't. My poor kid.

tell him not to brush his teeth..take those things u put on ur finger and use those..I know someone who went to Panama..he never drank the water but forgot and brushed his teeth..he got very ill..

My wife used to go there quite frequently when she was in international sales. She loved the culture and most of the people. Just avoid the craziness of Carnival.

Remember bottled water if you go outside major hotels and or the city metro area.
