How do you like to mark your Bible? Do you have a color scheme? What do you mark? Do you circle, underline, bold, etc...? Do you try to stay consistent or does it matter?
Just interested in seeing how everyone else marks their Bibles. Can't tell ya why, just think it's interesting to see how everyone else interacts w/ the text.

all my marks go in one Bible, a spirit-emphasis NKJV... I high-lite in yellow and high-lite within the yellow with red underlines. I have a series of red dots with dates next to them through-out the Bible. These are passages G-D 'lit up' for me at times I NEEDED them...
notes are written everywhere...
I have passages that I use for skeptics and atheists,... I show them they're in the Bible and they can't help but see themselves, gets em wondering how they can be pegged so...
on the back of the front cover of my Bible I have written this refrain... THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU FROM SIN,... OR SIN WILL KEEP YOU FROM THIS BOOK

I have this wonderful hi-lite stick...almost like a Chinese marker...but it's not waxy and yuck. It's great. I also love to use my mechanical pencil to write in tidbits...and occasionally cross out the wording of the NASB (though I really like this translation) for a rendering closer to the Greek or Hebrew.
Godspeed,

I use a Rapidograph (drafting) pen, available from art supply stores. The ink will not seep through the paper.
I use the pen to make notes in my wide margin Bible. And I use it to trace over certain words. When you trace/write over the words, the words will look bold, and really are noticeable.

orange highlighter for end-times related things....
and a blue highlighter for......like hopemail said......passages that God lit up for the times i needed them.
i just started doing this recently, so i'm sure there will be more 'color schemes' soon.

I don't really have any system of marking my Bible---KJV. I have used blue, orange and pink highlighters and pen. Whatever is in my hand at the time of study is what I use :). I have lots of writing----strong's #'s, with words underlined, strong's definitions squeezed in and I also put scriptures(book/chapter/verse) next to those passages/verses which I feel the Holy Spirit shows me are linked together. Blessings in Jesus, Cindy

A Bible that's falling apart, usually indicates a life that's not.
Thick colored pencils that won't bleed through.

it pops out at me w/yellow..any other color tends to dull the writing..I highlight things I've been looking for..or verses made into songs I learned as a teenager in our school bible club..and of course things I've memorized over the years..and I have learned that when the paster comes across a verse I didn't know was in there, to highlite it..:)

I underline with different Gel-pens that don't bleed thru. I tried using a highlighter, but it bleeds horribly. I won't be using it in my NLT or CJB again.
I had been using a scofield kjv, but I was crossing things out too much, so I use it only in conjuncture with other translations and make sure I underline and or cross out what is incorrect and put somewhere in the margin or the side of the page what is closer to the Hebrew, Aramaic, Latin or Greek.
There's not a color scheme I go by, just something that makes the verses stand out from the others, even if the others are underlined.
This is the 5th Bible i've been thru, and i just got the CJB- and I'll be marking in it as well :)

I use the Inductive Study Bible method of marking up my bible, using colored pencils. I love it and it really helps me to remember things. Like, when I come to a reference to Israel I draw a picture of the star of David on the word, in blue. Talk about being able to find things quickly!! Also for references to Satan (also serpent, dragon, etc.) I draw a red pitch fork on the word.
I really love this way of marking up my bible. :D

I use this method also and I love it. It takes a little time to develop a system of markings, but the possibilities are endless. Next on my list is the Inductive Bible Study Software that lets you mark the same way on the computer!

I've done it all. Pens, highlights, underline, circle, personal sidenotes, and even typical pencil. My Bile is falling apart.
