View Full Version : Did God keep creating humans after Adam and Eve?

I was reading Genesis 4 the other day, and I kept getting the impression that there were other people in the world besides Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel. For example:

Chapter 4 verse 15
And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

It sounds like there are others in the world who may try and kill Cain. I understand that this may be a warning for the future, perhaps a warning for his own family? I don't get it.

Chapter 4 verse 16:
And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod , on the east of Eden.

The name "Land of Nod" seems to tell me that people would have to have settled it before it got its name.

Finally,

Chapter 4 verse 17:
And Cain knew his wife ; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

Where did Cain find his wife? It didn't mention if Adam and Eve conceived a daughter that Cain married... am I missing something here or did God continue to create humans in addition to Adam and Eve?

Gen. 5:4
"After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters".

They married their brothers and sisters in the beginning. There were no diseases at that time.
This was all written after the fact. That`s why they can say he went to the land of Nod.

Excellent citation 7rock. I will also add that it was permissable then, for sister and brother to marry, as the law was not given yet.

It is interesting to think about after the fall, how man DE-evolved as the result of the entrance of sin. Man used to live hundreds of years.

A good creation book by Gary Parker, Creation Facts of Life, an ex evolutionist is the best source I have read on genetics (just one aspect of the book) and how it was possible for brother and sister to marry in the beginning due to genetic purity and how today marrying a close relative usually creates diseased offspring due to mutations which have corrupted the gene pool throughout the generations (the very thing that evolutionist use to promote evolution actually does the opposite). His point in this is how genetics points back to a point of perfection, the Garden of Eden.

Genesis shows that Seth was born when Adam was 130 (5:3) so prossibly around 128/129 years possibly went between the fall and the story of Cain and Abel as the Bible cstates Seth was born after Abel was murdered. I am not a mathmatician by any means but even at 128/129 the numbers can expound quite rapidly especially when you consider they probably married early and had multiple wives.

What do you mean by "created"? Didn't He create you and I? No man certainly created us.

Peace

i think he meant created as in "no mother or father, just *poof* they were there in human form..." correct me if i am wrong...

also, i just wanted to know who all thinks that the things written in genesis were completely literal.

ex: world created in 6-24 hr periods called days, people living hundreds of hundreds of years, etc....
