We have a lot of upheaval going on right now - DH got a new job unexpectedly in our old hometown, three hours south of here. Suddenly we find ourselves scrambling to get our house on the market - he starts his new job the second week of August.
So it is lots of stress - what to throw out, what to donate, what to store, painting everything, and the market being what it is . . . neither DH nor I have slept since this job offer first came through on 6/18.
So last night I was in bed, sleepless, listening to the thunderstorm passing over. I was praying to God for peace. The rain kept reminding me of when the disciples and Jesus were in the boat, and He was asleep, and the disciples woke Him up because of the storm. He rebuked the storm, and the winds calmed. I also kept thinking of Him walking on the water.
And then it dawned on me what God was saying. No matter how turbulent life gets, He is right there with me on the rough seas. He already knows what I need, and He is in control.
I'm still in panic mode. We are very thankful for this opportunity to get closer to family. The moving thing has us in a panic - we built this house, moved into it from the one apartment we rented after marrying. We don't move, we stay put. We didn't go through the process of buying a house. We've never sold a house. We are totally clueless.
But God is with us, He has moved us in this direction and He is in control.
The song "Master of the Wind" by Bill Gaither kept running through my head last night, which helped me figure out what God was telling me:
