I was reading this thread today( Link (http://www.prophecyfellowship.org/showthread.php?t=317476) ), and thinking how so many Christians get Gods word completely wrong. I believe many Cristians today are just plain lazy, and they refuse to do their homework. They have no inclination to dig down deep into the Bible and learn who God really is, and what God means to humanity. Thanks for posting this Paul.

I don't think that the problem is that people do not dig down deep. I think the problem is that there is no relationship at all with the Father. The believer with simply the ability to read the scriptures need only the desire to be with the Father and an open heart to allow the Holy Spirit to teach it to them. The problem in my opinion is that very few believers give the relationship any time. Any time to pray. Any time to privately praise. Any time to read. Any time to be still and know.

This thread really hits home because the other night at supper my SIL told me that He didn't think we needed to study the Bible, just do what it said. Besides thinking it was a cop out, I told him that it is best to do both. I know that didn't address what he was really getting at, but how can we be sure that we are doing everything we are supposed to unless we read and study it?
I guess I should use the "prosperity gospel" as an example. While it's true that Jesus spoke about money a lot in His teachings, He did it because He knew it would get their attention and to show that What He Offered was way more valuable. If they would do what they were doing for/with their money, how much more would they work for His Kingdom?
You can't do it unless you read it. And you can't study it unless you read it.
1 Peter 2:2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
This applies to every Believer, regardless of maturity level. We are all still striving.
