I've been feeling lately that I haven't been doing my part and I want to know of some good causes to donate to.

If the Lord hasn't burdened you with a specific mission look locally. Talk to your pastor or elders. Understand how your donation will be used. Make it a personal committment. You may find the Lord provides a greater offering in your time and compassion. Touch someones life. Whether it turns out to be a monetary gift or an action make it an expression of love instead of duty.

One to look into is Gospel for Asia. If you support a missionary or child, every cent goes to that person's support. They are at www.gfa.org

Below are the web sites of two of the missionaries our church supports.

http://www.globalmessenger.org (http://www.globalmessenger.org/) is the web site of Jack and Sherry Harris. They are missionaries to Vietnam and several other Far Eastern countries. Sherry has a special heart for the ladies of Vietnam and has special underground meetings to lead them to Jesus. Jack's organization provided assistance to the Indonesians in the wake of the tsunami. Jack had two sermons at our church recently and he preaches a powerful sermon.

http://www.frmusa.org/ is the website of Far Reaching Ministries, run by Wes Bentley and his wife. They are missionaries to Sudan and Uganda, and have a ministry to the night commuter children of northern Uganda who are persecuted by the Lord's Resistance Army.

Either or both ministries would be worthy of your donations, I'm sure. :):

Lots of good ones mentioned already. I'm especially a fan of Compassion. We sponsor a little girl in Columbia. It's really a much more rewarding experience than you'd think it would be - at least, than I thought it would be.

Also, try looking for a local Rescue Mission. They're excellent places for homeless people to get a good meal, a good night's sleep, job training (usually) and exposure to the Gospel. The one around here sees a lot of single men, because the Salvation Army does not, as a rule, take single men, only women and families.

Don't know where you're located, but Houston has a rescue mission called Star of Hope. They serve the homeless and have been around a long time. http://www.sohmission.org/main.asp

Campus Crusade.

Their ideas are very progressive (in a good way). They are trying to reach the lost of the world through the internet.

Just one of their sites: http://www.everystudent.com/ (Check at the bottom of the page to see how the site can be viewed in other languages.)

Not only do they help students (and others) in other parts of the globe, they are a powerful resource for our children who are going off to liberal colleges.

How about helping the poor in your own church congregation? That seems like a good place to start. :):

In Birmingham AL, there is Jimmy Hale Mission..........homeless and they give the gospel

There is also Save A Life in our area that gives women testing, counseling, ultrasounds so they can give a picture of the baby. (I don't know if they were yet able to get the 3D ultrasound machine) and they also help them if they decide to keep the baby instead of adoption.

Joseph's Storehouse (http://www.visionforisrael.com/).
Works out of Israel giving folks what they need and also outreaching for the Gospel.
They have a similar program to give backpacks of supplies to students who would otherwise not have them, they work with the IDF --- and they give to arabs as well as jews. :): That's a plus in my book :):

Jimmy Hale and Jessie's Place are definitely good ones, and folks don't seem to give too much towards it.

Do you have a local food pantry that provides a Christian ministry to those coming in?
We have one locally that not only provides food, beds, but a gospel message and hope.

Joel Rosenberg's charity is a good one as well. It's called the Joshua Fund. A blurb from the web site sums it up pretty well. It says, "Helping Christians bless Israel and her neighbors, in the name of Jesus, according to Genesis 12:1-3." Here's the web site: http://www.joshuafund.net/.
