On Sunday night while at work I started having heart palpatations that just wouldn't go away. I work in a hospital so I made my way to the ER where I got hooked up to everything and had all kind of test and everything checked out ok. I did stay overnight just to make sure. Anyway, this experience really freaked me out and I was afraid. After everything was over and I have time to think about it, I was really sad that I was afraid. While I was still in the ER I did have a conversation with myself, telling myself that I had no need to be afraid for I belong to God and I did calm down after that and praying. Anyway, I have always been somewhat of a control person and that experience really opened my eyes to the fact that we (I) am not in control at all and our bodies are our bodies only because God allows it and they are to be used for His service. It's like I've known this for years but it just opened up my eyes and planted itself right into my being. We say so many things like just a heartbeat or a breath away from eternity but we really don't think about it as being fact.
I know this was a big step for me in my Christian walk and I am so thankful for the experience even though it did freak me out, it showed me something about myself that needed attention.

I know exactly what you mean. In my case I had this "thing" suddenly appear on my skin. I was sure it was cancer and that I was going to die. It turned out to be shingles. But you're right. You always think absent from the body, present with the Lord. But when you actually confront your mortality, you really learn something about yourself.
I'm glad you're OK.:):

It's natural to feel like you did. :nod And, as His child you turned to Him.

So happy you are ok, but don't feel bad about feeling "scared" :): Our Lord knows that we will have these feelings and there is nothing wrong with us having these feelings. What is important, is that if and when we do die as a Believer we will be with Him - Amen!! <><

I still don't know what caused the problem. I am wearing a heart monitor for 3 weeks. Maybe it will pick something up, but nothing serious. Thank you all for your replies and concern. I will let you know what they decide.

If no heart tests show anything, consider having them check your gall bladder if you still have one. I had heart palpitations years ago, and that was the cause.

Praying for you. Here is an article I just wrote recently (from my blog) that goes right along with what you said. God can use ALL things for good can't He? :nod
out of control
My dad recently had his second open heart/bypass surgery. What delicate moments we faced as he prepared for this risky procedure! During a prayer time, my husband mentioned the thought of Dad lying on the operating table and at a total loss of control. The thought was chilling to me. However, his talk with God continued with the thought of how we are all, whether in good or bad health, to be in that very state.
Romans 12:1 tells us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. Galatians 2:20 reminds us that we have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us. The life we live in the body, we live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Wow, grasp hold of that. Watch the worries of this world, our health, and the future disappear as we place our lives at the foot of the cross for Him who gave is all for us.
He is before all things, and in Him all things are held together (Col. 1:17). Not only that, but Christ "sustains all things by His powerful word" (Heb. 1:3). In place of the surgeon’s scalpel, is the sword of the Spirit, God’s word which is quick, and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing assunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" Hebrews 4:12.
We must not fret over infection or complications from this divine surgery. Only trust and rest in His capable care. He is the master creator and sustainer of all things. And by the way, my dad is now home on the road to recovery…in the Divine Physician’s care!
