Hi everybody!
Let me start off by saying that I had thought about leaving this board because of this thread:

Today was my first time seeing it. I don't post very often and I thank the Lord that the thread was locked because it was getting out of hand. I'm a believer in Christ and very conservative and I'm just about as far right as you can get. I was appalled at the insensitivity that was shown in that thread. I was also shocked at how frequently the N****** was used in that thread. Every time I hear that word it makes me cringe. I want to remind everyone that people from all walks of life frequent these boards regardless of race....even though they might not participate frequently, they do however scan the threads. I would like to provide some insight from an African American perspective on a couple of issues.
On the Imus issue, I feel as though he shouldn't have been fired because he apologized and wasn't really given the opportunity to rectify the situation. I don't agree with what he said, but the man apologized. The team has also accepted his apology. There is indeed a double standard and many people in my community seem to not realize that. I don't particular like rap music because a lot of it demoralizes African American women and the language is just obscene. It paints a negative picture of us. All African American women aren't like this and who knows Imus's comment could have stemmed from that negative perception and stereotype. Some people weren't raised around people outside their race so their perception of a particular group comes from what they see on TV and hear about on the radio or in the papers. I think Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson took it a little too far especially since they have faults themselves. Who made them the moral authority. They have both said some nasty things toward white people. Racism EXIST in every race! I know some black people who hate white people and minorities hating other groups of minorities. It all doesn't make since to me because as people we were all created by God and are decedents of Noah's sons that went into different parts of the world after the flood. People tend to forget in the beginning there were only two human beings Adam and Eve which all human beings descended from!
With the racial slur being on the furniture, honestly in this day and age companies have to be more mindful of these things. Even though it may have not been done intentionally, it should have been looked into. I just finished taking a Global Cultures class where we learned the effects marketing campaigns and business deals being done without the proper research. Something that is socially accepted in one culture may not be accepted in another. As an African American woman I would have been offended. The word was used to describe the color of the furniture. It's very offensive because it's associated with bigotry and hate. NO ONE absolutely NO ONE should use that word and that goes for people within my community. It's an ugly dirty word. I love all people regardless of race. Race will not matter in God's kingdom. This world would be so boring if everyone looked and acted alike. I can't wait until Jesus calls us home because it will put a stop to all of this. Everything changed after the flood and the Earth no longer had its sub- tropical climate. I was taught that when Noah's sons migrated into the different regions of the world as time went by their decedents and generation thereafter had to adapt to their living conditions, and therefore why we have different races. Their bodies adapted as well. If you notice dark complected people are in the warmer places in the Earth like Mexico, Africa, Middle East and many of the islands which is why they normally don't get sun burned. As you migrate towards colder regions, the complexion lightens. Of course we are all mixed up now. I'm talking about way before people started to migrate into other parts of the world. There is not one race that is more superior than another. Believers in Christ shouldn't have any hate in their hearts towards anybody and if there is then something isn't right. God bless you all.
