Has anyone heard about the Daniel fast?

Our pastor anounced last sunday that as a church we were going to start on the Daniel fast this sunday.

I missed last sunday(dd was sick w/ the flu) so I didnt get to hear the details of it. I do have the sheet that tells what you can and cannot eat and what you are to pray about each day(I guess). It's for 21 days and man does it look hard. my first response was "no way!" But now I'm actually considering doing it.

I need a break through with my health and dh needs a break through with his tobacco addiction. Plus it will show us that we can live without eating so much junk.

I also need to focus more on the fact that it's not about FOOD, but becoming more spiritually in tune with God--Please God, help me to remember that!!

Anyway, I was curious to see if anyone has done the Daniel fast and what their experience was.

Daniel's fast is a partial fast which consists only of vegetables, fruits and water. Daniel fast is a way of denying the body for meat, coffee and other food stuff that the body craves, without total abstaining from food.

It was recorded in the Bible that Daniel humbled himself and mourned for 3 weeks. At that time he ate no meat, no wine, or any pleasant bread and spent much time in prayers. Hence it is known as 21 Day Daniel Fast.

Hope that helps. Its really good, you'll enjoy it. :thumb

Our music ministry committed to a 7 day fast during the first week of February. Several of us did a shortened version of the Daniel fast. The first 2 days I had a headache (from no sodas: lack of caffeine), and my body detoxified. I felt horrible, but got through it. By the end of the week, I could tell a marked change in my body. I didn't realize all the junk I ate. So, I've basically adopted the Daniel fast as an everyday diet.
