Was he aware of what Jesus was doing on earth? Was he surprised by the resurrection? I mean I'm sure he realized Jesus was there to save humanity, but I wonder if he knew how? Did he celebrate when Jesus died?

Did he see it coming?

1 Corinthians 2

7No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him"[a]—

This verse would include the prince(s) of darkness as well, imo.

I've always assumed he (Satan) 'thought' he knew what was going on. He thought he had thwarted the plan by having Jesus killed. I don't know, I've just kind of always assume that Satan knew there was a plan, but didn't know what it was exactly, if that makes sense.

God bless.

That's a great question. I would say that he would have access to the same O.T. scriptures available at the time of Jesus' ministry. Satan could have known that Jesus was meant to be crucified. My mind's drawing a blank right now--are there verses foretelling the resurrection in the O.T.? I can't think of any right now. So he might not have known that Jesus would be resurrected and probably celebrated when He died.

He had to be aware that Christ was doing miracles like raising the dead, healing the sick, feeding 5,000 etc. That must have gotten Satan's attention. Plus he cast out demons on a regular basis. So I think Satan knew what Jesus was doing when He was here on earth.

Romans 8
Future Glory
18I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that[i] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

I believe only God knows....satan may think he knows. JMVVHO

Satan knows alot if not all. Do not forget he has had access to scripture and during the tempation :

Luke 4:1-13

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, [2] where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

[3] The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."

[4] Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'"

[5] The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. [6] And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. [7] So if you worship me, it will all be yours."

[8] Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"

[9] The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here. [10] For it is written:

" 'He will command his angels concerning you
to guard you carefully;
[11] they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' "

[12] Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

[13] When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

Satan knows full well and recognized Jesus authority as showed before Jesus cast Legion the demon into the herd of swine, Legion cried out as quoted:

Matthew 8:28-32
28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

The demon asked if He had come to them before the time. They know where they are going. It is a fixed duration. Tehy know why Jesus had come.
Legion was actually afraid Jesus came to cast them away before the prescribed time. Jesus displayed his authority by casting the demon into the herd of swine.

Satan knows his time is short and why Christ Jesus came. Satan has continually challenged and accused God. Dont forget the father of lies & great accuser Satan understands scripture in a way we wont until Jesus gathers those who believe and trust in Him.

I agree veillifted :thumb I alway thought that the victory was already won, that satan knows he's beaten, but hes a bad loser and wants to take as much of God creation to hell with him as he can. The victory was wom at the cross and he knows it. All he can do is lie to people and stop them from going to heaven. He wants us to think that the battle isnt over yet, but it is! Hes already on death row, he just doesnt want to be lonely down there!

:thumb :hail THANKYOU JESUS! :hail :hail :hail

Satan is not stupid. He knows exactly what is going on and timetables. I believe he knows his place in the story and therefore is trying to take as many with him as he possibly can.

God is in control.

Satan knows all the Bible prophecies on what will happen to him, but he is too arrogant that he thinks he can beat God such that he believes "things will work out differently" by just having the precise actions predicted in the Bible.

I agree with this along with the scripture: Matthew 8:29

29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Satan's arrogance is noted, he does think he had victory over Jesus with His death on the cross.

I equate Satan's outlook as that of a Murderer whos name and face is all over the news. He is out for a time, and thinks he will beat the cops and never be caught, but at the same time knows his fate once caught. He continues in his arrogance until he is called on it.

Legion cried to Jesus not to torment him "before the time" so Legion understood the power of Jesus and the fixed duration of time on Earth Legion has. Satan knows the same thing.
