Everyone,
For those who may be interested there is a movie that has just come out for wide release yesterday called Amazing Grace, It is based on William Wilberforce a member of British Parliament, and a strong believer, in the 18th and 19th centuries who was at times the only voice in parliament to abolish slavery. He relied on God thruoit that ordeal and time and that is something the movie brings out. It also touches on the life somewhat of John Newton the writer of Amazing Grace who was also a former member of the slave trade till his conversion.

I read they bring American politics into this movie. It looks like they are using this for the progressive religion, more guilt.

I saw this movie tonight and it was just amazing. They could have added a bit more about his faith, but overall it was wonderful and very enlightening. I never even knew this guy existed. I encourage everyone to see it, it is very well done!

From what I have heard, it does have a political bent and I hate that in light of the fact that a lot of churches have been sucked into promoting it. I will have to go see it before judgement though.

Lexie,

The only way american politics were brought into the movie was in a historical context, ie post revolution and american slavery issues, a;; in proper context.
No guilt just facts of what slavery did and was in Britain at the time. Also has a great line, that I am paraphrasing, where his butler says to him "your christian faith stirs you to action rather than meditation". A saying that we all need to reflect on, and then take action in our christian lives.
