Hello all,
My dh and I were discussing the millenium. He posed the question:
When we will be ruling and reigning with Christ for the thousand years, WHO are they that will we be ruling and reigning over?

Scriptures please. Thank you in advance!

:ranger Revelation 5 talks about who is worthy to open the seals and John is reassured that the Lamb has prevailed and is worthy to break the seals. It goes on to say in 9-10 that the Lamb, Christ, has redeemed us to God through the Cross, which puts Satan and his followers under our feet, because we are covered in the redemptive blood of Christ. As ministers of God, then, we will reign over evil, have authority over evil.

Isaiah 61: 6 is referenced with Revelation 5: 10 and Isaiah references Exod. 19:6, I Peter 2:5, Rev 1:6; 5:10; 20:6.

That is my understanding. Revelation is a hard book to understand and there are a number of theological discussions on its meaning.

The book of Revelations reveals that it is the 'good' people that survived the great tribulation period. It is the remaining 'good' people because they were not raptured, not martyred and they were not the evil ones that died making up the final armies. After the great battle, the Lord commands the animals of Earth to 'search and destroy' the remaining evil ones. The faithful people then still remaining will re-populate the Earth for the mil. period while the Lord and his saints will reign over them.

What makes these people "good" and "faithful"?
Do you think they are saved?

I think these good people were not good before the rapture (thus they would be raptured already). During the great tribulation, many people will turn to the Lord and become saved but of the many of these people, the majority will be martyred. The rest of the saved people (that were not martyred in the name of Jesus) will hide away from the one world religion and of Armageddon. Once it is all over, these people will be the only ones that remain of Earth still moral.

I believe, if these remaining mortal men, still remain true to Christ, they will be saved. Then, their offspring will come. From every generation to the next, their kids will become worse and worse. Finally, Satan will be release for a short period for one final battle.

I think the reason God has made this 1000 year period is to show mankind one last time that without Him, all are destroyed. Nobody is sinless except Christ. To show mankind's sinfull nature and show mankind their fatal disease.

I hope you have a better understanding now.

As I understand Scripture, we rule and reign over those who enter into the Milliennial Kingdom with their natural bodies. <><

Well, it depends on who you are. If you are a gentile, you will be ruling over the Gentile Nations. The Gentile nations will be those who make it through the Great Tribulation period and who have natural bodies, like a post above said. So, the Gentile branch of government chain of command will be from Messiah to the Church and Tribulation saints to the kings of the Gentile nations.
Scripture reference: Revelation 20:4-6

If you are a jew, then you will be ruling over Israel and the entire "Promise Land" of the jews. So then, the chain of comman will be from the Messianic King to David, to the Twelve Apostles, to the princes, to the judges and counselors, over all Israel, which will be serving as the head of the Gentiles. (from "The Footsteps of the Messiah" by Dr. Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum)
