Ok, I know that there was a thread like this already about... 3-4 weeks ago, but I missed it so can someone give me the verdict lol. Are images of God/Jesus blasphemous? I think so, because I remember comign across a verse that said something like "Thou shall not make any image of anything in heaven or..." can't remmeber the rest lol...I think it was somewhere in Exodus?... Ohhh if anyone wants to add their opinions, go right ahead lol, we can have another thread on this topic:D:

I would like to add to that question. If they are not blashphemy, would they be considered idols if you had a Jesus or angel statue?

depends. Are you bowing down and praying to it ? or it just a pretty picture that make you think about Jesus when you see it?

this verse is speaking of idolatry, if ya want to take this literally "any image of anything in heaven" - ya could not take a picture of anything in nature.

ok so then idolatry lol is it blasphemous? Of course. But having a picture of Jesus on my wall isn't.

Idolatry is blasphemy, if a person is worshipping the statue or pic, say you pray to it, say "Saint ______ please help with my finances." then you are comiting idolatry, or maybe the person just considers having the statue, pic, ect is protecting their home then that is idolatry. If a person just buys a painting because it is beautiful or as Gordon B said it makes you think of Jesus then there isn't a problem.
Think about it the Jews were worshipping the golden calf, they didn't make it to look at, but to worship.

This makes me think of a wedding ring.
If someone wears a wedding ring as a simple representation of being married, that's fine.
But if someone wears a wedding ring because it's three and a half karats and flashier than all her friends' rings, then that's idolatry.
It's the way it is perceived.
