View Full Version : Repenting for Angels

Ok, I've posted this in the "Satan's Angels" thread, and I don't know if it's either that no one can answer this or if everyone is skipping it, but that's why I'm now making a thread so that it won't be skipped seeing as people will read this when they look here. But to get to the point, here is my question:
If angels aren't offered the option to repent then wouldn't they continue to just rebel, practise unrightouesness, be evil, make life harder for people, stay people from god, etc.? There would be no reason for them to turn away from their evil, right? Any thoughts?

That is what they are doing right?

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for this, but here goes....
Suppose--just suppose--that it IS possible for fallen angels to repent. In which manner, consistent with the revealed nature and character of God, might this be possible?
The Scriptures state that, "...without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV)
We humans can be told the story of Jesus as given in the Scriptures and exercise that faith which pleases God by trusting in his Word, for it is a message which comes from outside of our "normal" human experiences. But a fallen angel knows those truths to be an absolute fact; there is no element of faith in simply believing what you know beyond question to be true. How, then, could a fallen angel exercise faith in God?
Were God to say to the fallen angels, "Do X, Y, and Z; and then, if you want back in, we can talk," then I'm sure he would be bombarded by applicants eager to ditch Lucifer and regain a place in Heaven. But again, what element of faith is there in a "business transaction" such as this? If God has to put out incentives to get fallen angels to do the right thing--then are they doing it out of a change of heart or are they doing it to snap up a "better deal" than Lucifer is currently offering? And if the latter, then might they not snap right back if the other side sweetens its own deal accordingly?
What I'm getting at is that, if a fallen angel truly wishes to repent, God can not offer incentives or promises of any kind to influence that choice. The entity in question must decide that he or she is going to do the right thing simply because it is right and for no other reason. He must be willing to surrender himself unconditionally to God's justice, and be willing to accept all of the consequences of that surrender, unpleasant as they may be. While I do not claim to know how the spiritual world is organized, I can postulate that the enemy leadership might crack down hard on any of its followers who are showing signs of conscience; the putative penitent must be prepared to endure this as well in the hope that there will eventually be justice and compensation for it.
And that is how a fallen angel can exercise faith: Not by faith in a promise (for any promise would be a hard fact), but by faith in the nature, character, and justice of the Living God. He or she must do the right thing now, shouldering any short-term adverse consequences, trusting only in the fact that a just God cannot, in the long run, give him or her reason to regret making that choice.
Obviously I cannot guarantee that a change of heart and a change of action at this point will permit one of Satan's angels to escape the Lake of Fire. But, based on my knowledge of the nature and character of God, I believe that in the long run no one--angel, human, or demon--who chooses to do the right thing for the right reason will end up regretting it.

Angels dont need faith. They are/were with God already.

The angels that are with our Lord now are with our Lord - and visa versa - there is no "changing of the guard" so to speak any more - those that are with Him are with Him; those who were against Him are against Him <><

That makes sense. They know God for who He is, and know that He is a just God, and unless He is overcome with divine compassion He won't save them, so they pretty much realize they are damned and that doing good won't change anything and then that's why the give their eligence to Satan.

God has already shown His nature through His word. To entertain such thoughts against What God has already said is folly. We are to avoid such folly.

There is a little more to it than just repenting. God had to become one of us to redeem us. Hebrews 2:16 states that:
"For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham....."
Fallen angels cannot be redeemed because no sacrifice was made for them.
