You must be converted before anything else can happen. I'm assuming by converted you mean to come to faith in Jesus Christ and by transformed you mean this kind of transformation.
Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Many are converted into Christianity for many reasons, transformation means I believe New creation.

Conversion is necessary to become a child of God, and transformation in the Christian life (if that is what you are talking about :):) is also necessary for healthy development of a Christian. There is nothing healthy about a 10-year-old baby, and nothing healthy about a Christian still on spiritual milk after 10 years of knowing Christ as Savior.
