Hello all, long time lurker(1.5yrs.), first time poster!
Anyway, I have heard of so many horror stories about Jews who begin to believe in Yeshua as the Messiah. As for me, I'm as Gentile as they come, when I really accepted Christ as my Savior, no one wanted to disown me.
I guess I can't imagine the level of certainity or fortitude it would take to make that step. It seems that at times the family would rather hear that you "converted" to Hinduism, New Age or even being an Athiest rather than "become a Christian!"
I am not at all faulting these Jewish families for feeling like that about us wonderful Christians what with the Crusades, etc. I have the utmost respect for a Jew to make that "jump". What are some of your stories? What research or experience did you have to convince you?

:wave Welcome Bob
I'm not Jewish, but I can tell you that it's not only Jewish families that are like that. I came from a Pagan family and when I came to Christianity it was not very well recieved. I lost quite a few friends and my family still isn't quite over me becoming a Christian. Right now they are in the "I don't understand it" phase. However they are making great strides! :clap (My father asked to come to church with me next week! :clap )
I'm sure someone who is Jewish will be able to answer you question. And I'm curious to hear it myself :D:

I'm not Jewish either (perhaps I've got a Jewish heart), but my earthly father isn't Jewish so I'm Gentile, too.
Not sure why the first two portions of this testimony aren't showing up...perhaps you've been to Ariel.org ---

Welcome to...posting at RR!:D:

This is a great question. I am a believer - initially as a result of an intense religious experience, and then by faith, supported by a re-reading of the Old Testatment and New Testament - but ultimately, by faith. A spiritual conversion to Christianity is a very difficult issue in most Jewish families. This is something that, personally, I am still coming to grips with (not my faith, but how to deal with family issues). I'll read, with interest, any other replies to this initial post.

Hi Robbinson and Love My Cats, this is the reason I asked the question. In my case I went from a "luke-warm Christian" to an "on-fire Christian". On-fire is MUCH better! But the worst I received from family and friends was someone saying "oh, that's nice." and then pat you on the head and send you on your way!
I don't know what its like to experience a visceral hateful response. Like I said in the original question, it seems like some of the family would rather hear that you became a New Ager or even an Athiest! I guess its true that Jesus is the name that divides!
