Many Christian groups have been pressing for a cease-fire since the crisis began on July 12, when Lebanon-based Hezbollah guerrillas entered Israel and captured two Israeli soldiers. Most recently, on Monday (July 24), the World Alliance of Reformed Churches called for "an immediate cessation of violent acts by all parties," and said the first step "is for all acts of violence to end immediately." ..

In a July 21 letter to Bush, signed by more than a dozen Roman Catholic and Protestant groups -- including the National Council of Churches -- Churches for Middle East Peace told the president his leadership "and the full weight of the Untied States, acting in concert with the international community, must be applied now to achieve an immediate cease-fire and to launch an intensive diplomatic initiative for the cessation of hostilities...

Churches for Middle East Peace is an umbrella group whose board members include representatives from the Alliance of Baptists, the American Friends Service Committee, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Mennonite Central Committee, the Roman Catholic Conference of Major Superiors of Men's Institutes, the Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the United Methodist Church, the Episcopal Church, the Unitarian Universalist Assocation and the United Church of Christ.

I have to agree...with all the ups and downs of all of this...birth pangs...I am ready to go home...but it is my blessed hope...call me selfish. I want to see Jesus!:faint

Whether or not a ceasefire takes place isn't up to Israel or anybody else. It's up to the terrorists, Syria, and Iran. If they wouldn't have kidnapped Israeli soldiers, this whole war wouldn't have happened in the first place.

If only we had a one world religion that all these various churches and church groupings could join, and its leader could then be a universal spokesman for peace in the Middle East.

Hmmmm
Do you think the World Council of churches would help in this endeavor?

If it weren't for that G8 Summit they wouldn't of had to create a diversion. :B:

No real answer from me Buzzard. It just seems the more pieces of a puzzle you put together, the clearer the picture becomes.

They would have to 'dialogue' to accomplish that goal.
