Since our move to Dallas i have been trying to find a good church. Not sure yet about the one i am attending to. My third time there was last sunday, (yesterday). Both services weren't to bad but the one on sunday was a little different. We studied on the book of Judges specifically all about Deborah. I was surprised it was a different person teaching from last week. It was a women. Doesnt the bible talk about how women shouldn't speak in the church, or lead the church? Also through out her teaching its like she was trying to come off as a comidain wile at the same time telling us about Deborah, and being a strong women inside the church. Also she presented us with a song that had nothing to do about Jesus. It was all about stay "strong women in the church." Their were girls dancing to the song up on stage.:doh Is this wrong? Should i stay and see whats in store for next week? Because the original pastor left for awile, but he will be back probably in the fall.:confused
Im sorry if this seems silly.:doh I thought we would get some good teaching in like we did last week.

I don't know that God is opposed to women having authority in the church. There is much mention of prophetesses in the community in the Old Testament. In fact a woman blessed Jesus when he was an infant.

all i can say is God Bless the lady to have the courage to get up and talk.

If she was teaching empowerment to women, how is that scriptural? From your post, it seems as though she had some kind of agenda. I don't have a problem with a woman having a position of authority in the church, but she shouldn't be preaching, but teaching to other women and to children. What were the reactins of some of the other people in the congregation?
I'm in the Dallas area. I don't which part you are in but I go to a very good Baptist church, very biblical and you know Christ is there. It's not in Dallas, it's in West Fort Worth. I've also heard a lot of people talk about Calvary Chapels and there are several in the DFW area.

Women can be leaders of women's ministries. They can teach in adult Sunday school (or Bible college if a church has one) with a mix of men and women. But they aren't to have the position of "pastor" over a congregation of men and women.

I believe women can teach in the church but not become pastors.<><

all i can say is that her teaching was on Deborah and at the end of the services it seem as if the message she was trying to bring across is "dont give up your roll in the church women, be what you want to be dont let anyone hold you back, stay strong." something like that.
As a body of christians we are all one in Jesus. the message should have been towards all christians instead of just the women. I didnt see any men leading the church that night.
not sure i just had a bad feeling. Although probably shouldn't rely on feelings.

Feelings or discernment?
The Dallas Metro-plex is huge, and has every kind of church imaginable. When I lived there in the late 90's, I went to North Irving Baptist. It was a small-medium size Southern Baptist church, that was great.
