Has anyone ever heard of the " Church of God of Prophesy " ? The guy that mows my yard invited me and my wife to join him and his some Sunday - we fairly recently moved up to SC from Fla. and have yet to join a Church, a fact I related to him last week. We talked for awhile and I learned some very disturbing things about his congregation - all I've been able to do thus far is give him a Les Feldick DVD with 12 - 30 minute shows in Romans 8 on it.
Is anyone else familar with this denomination and have any words of advice ? He's a really nice guy and has 2 young children.......

Sounds like just another borderline cult...I bet there are plenty of sincere folk in this movement who are saved and just living in bondage and confusion...however, as with any group like this, there are wolves who are twisting the Scriptures and are intent on teaching false doctrine. I would smile and say praise God to your gardener and be friendly, but steer clear of the church.
Also, be in the Spirit whenever he is around...God may want to use you to deliver him from bondage. :):
(sorry...I'm teaching Galatians right now and this is exactly what the book is all about)

Thanks for the responces and sorry it took so long - no one will probably even see this but he came over yesterday to return the DVD - I told him to keep it and gave him another 12 programs in Ephesians .......He said him and his wife really enjoyed it but whole-heartedly dissaggreed with Les's assertment that we don't fall down and start squeeling when the Holy Spirit indwells us.
BigJer - It's funny that you said what you did because a year and a half ago when he first started doing our yard I picked up from his manner that he was a 'Church Goer ' and couldn't shake the compulsion to talk to him about Christ, hoping he would either be in a Bible study or that we could possibly start one - And I thought about him almost daily, finally to the point where I was sure that God was directing me to approach him. As Sovereighn as God is ( I hope this doesn't sound kooky ) , it wouldn't surprise me a bit if He actually arranged for me to move up for that very reason.......
