I got a letter in the mail from them to get it for about $21 a year. On the webpage you can give it as a gift for $18.

I wonder if I can gift my wife or if I have to already be subscribed to it myself?

I get it. The pastor at our church (I am on staff) got a subscription for all staff members for Christmas. i enjoy reading it.

I used to have a subscription to it. One time the whole magazine had articles in it that applied to situations in my life at that time. I gleaned quite a bit of good things out of it. I picked one up at the bookstore last month and read up on the spiritual warfare around us.

I believe it's mainly for those who are discipling others, or are study leaders, or in some form of leadership in their church, however I found that it still ministers to me even though I'm not active in the church congregation any longer.

As with anything, weigh what you read against scripture. But I think this magazine seems fine.

Discipleship Journal is one of the best magazines on the planet. The editors are careful to include only articles of real spiritual worth and practicality. No fluff here. If you desire a deep walk with the Lord, you won't go wrong subscribing to this magazine. One issue is worth a thousand posts on rr-bb.com.

That's the truth. In fact, I first discovered it at a writer's conference, and they had brought samples as a potential market for us to write for. After reading one copy I realized I had a LOT to learn before I would be qualified to write for D.J.
