Last night my wife and I went over our neighbors house for dinner. There new and they invited us over to there house so we could get to know one another.
Wellll......
it didn't go so well
It turns out the wife is a very liberal Christian who is for the whole Jesus loves all sinners he will not send them to hell so on and so forth.
Me and my wife kept trying to explain it's not just about sinning once or twice or 50 times, but an unrepentant lifestyle, plus disregarding scripture.
She starts off right out of the book of Leviticus telling us about owning slaves and animal sacrifices and I was like whoa. She said that we can't just pick and choose scripture that we want to follow and that's why Jesus came was to save us by grace (which is true because He died on the cross for our sins) but she kept on repeating it over and over like the Church is some huge hate mongering hyprocite.
So I pointed out 1corinthians 7:3 "but since thre is so much immorality, each MAN should have his own WIFE and each WOMAN her own HUSBAND"
It was like I was speaking swahili, she kept saying no no I'm wrong!
I was quoting scripture and then pointing it out of the BIBLE!!!
I felt bad afterwards because they have some distorted view of Christianity and developed there own belief system, which sadly is the same thing she was mad at me about, picking and choosing verses to follow.:(:
which i don't

I'm sorry it didn't go well...it's hard when things get off to a rocky start with people you have to live around.
Stand firm, you did the right thing. Their ears are itching, so they hear what they want. Pray for them...trying to turn the "Light" on for them by arguing will only bring you frustration. If you enjoy their company (other than their liberal-ity), agree to disagree but keep on praying!

Indeed!
I'm proud of you two!
What your neighbor doesn't seem to understand is that there is no Temple for sacrifices today, and that Yeshua paid the price for our salvation anyhow. People in our culture today don't generally have slaves...but I'm not sure where she's going with that. What does that have to do with the tea in China? Hmmmmmm...
Godspeed & Shalom,
Matthew
...by the way homosexuality is wrong in the New Testament as well. Did they say it wasn't? I know many have said, "What did Jesus say about it?" But that's an ignorant question because Jesus lived under the Law of Moses while He was here on the earth...only in His work on the cross did the Law of Moses become the "old" and the New Covenant become the "better" one mentioned in Hebrews. So even though many gay and lesbian groups try to have a foot in both sides, they are starting out from a flawed position. God's love for them has nothing to do with it either. He loves all of us...we're all sinners. God's will is that all come to saving faith, and that we all be set apart for Him.

Romans 1:18-32
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
8And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

You did the right thing by pointing out scripture, unfortuantly they are using scripture to justify their position on homosexuality.
Again, you did the right thing.:thumb :clap

nice try
here some scriptur for round 2 if you have it
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them" (Lev. 20:13).
"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet" (Rom. 1:26-27).

The problem with using OT scripture is that it also tells you about owning slaves and burnt offerings and such and she was saying how come we don't do that?
She was saying basically that the church has skimmed the Bible and picked and choosed what verses it wants to follow.
That is when I did point out 1corinthians, but she had her ear muffs on or something.
By the way her son is gay.....

A-ha...
My brother-in-law's parents were caught in this dilemma but they never backed down from Scriptural truth. They kept their arms wide open to their daughter while letting her know full-well that they disapproved of her lifestyle. Though it took about five years she came back to abiding in the Lord and rededicated her life to the Lord. After about two years of healing and prayer she has met and is going to marry a Godly man. It's amazing how some things happen, and how quickly some prayers are answered. Glory to God!

Here is a great site for ministering to homosexuals.
http://www.SBMinistries.org
He is now a married guy with children and was deeply involved himself in the homosexual and drug world. He helps to reveal many of the lies that are told and offers some great ministering resources.
I learned about him through his music ministry through Olive Tree - Jan Markell's ministry.
He has a great music ministry. I love some of his songs as they apply to all Christians.
Here are the words to one of my favorites:
Do you have a testimony
Do you have a testimony, a day you can recall
When you gave your life to Jesus, your heart, your mind, your soul?
Is there an hour that you know, when you were born again;
A new creation came forth and the old came to and end;
Do you have a testimony that the lost can clearly see,
For you may be the only Bible they will ever read;
And do the pages of your life show their need for the Lord?
Is the Gospel of Jesus Christ clear in every word?
CHORUS:
Can they see in your eyes the cross of Calvary,
And the Saviour who died, who they desperately need?
Do you have a testimony that shines brightly through your life
Are you sure without a doubt that your heart has been made right?
Can you see the good fruit growing on every limb,
In your moments alone, does all still point to Him?
Do you have a testimony that the world can plainly see,
That from the life you used to live, you have truly been set free?
Are you sold out for Jesus, and His Name you now proclaim?
Now that you’ve become a Christian, it seems everything has changed;
CHORUS
Do you have a testimony they’ll remember when you’re gone,
All the lives you’ve touched for Jesus Christ,
The souls that you had won?
And one day in heaven’s glory a vast crowd will appear,
And say, "Because of your testimony, each one of us is here!
You see, we saw in your eyes the cross of Calvary,
And our Saviour who died, and we fell to our knees!"
Do you have a testimony?
Do you have a testimony?

Let me get this straight:
You have NEW neighbors, who cordially invited you to THEIR house for dinner, and you got into a religious argument with the guy's wife?
So much for welcoming the new neighbors...
