When we are in Heaven do we remember our past lives and the memories that we now know about loved ones, etc.? I was curious about this and whether or not there is scripture to show that we would. :noidea

That's a good question. I think that we will be changed but not by "losing" ourselves (memories). I think that there will be no more sadness or tears because we are assured of that that God will wipe away every tear.

Well After Posting A Similiar Question On This Board Several Months Ago And Doing A Little Digging Myself And Getting Some Bible Verses Pointed Out..........yes We Will Keep Our Memories-that Will Stay With Us.

"We will know as we are known." This has never been made clear to me. But I think we will know as we know here. That must mean that we will have our memories.
However, I believe that the bad memories will be washed away by the Lord.
Lately, I have wanted to go to my mother and father, both of whom are in Heaven, and hug them and have a wonderful time with them. That was not possible on this earth. I will know them, but I also know right now that they will not be like they were on earth.
Both of them accepted Jesus into their lives in the last years that they lived. Our pastor counseled with my father. The pastor said dad had confessed all things he was guilty of.
I want to see them. But I have the assurance that I will not see the same people I knew here.
This may be why God will wipe all tears from our eyes. I don't know. But I do know I am eager to see all of the people in my life who have passed on.

Maybe when the bible says that God will wipe away every tear is that He will comfort us. Like when I wipe the tears off my sons face; I'm trying to comfort him. Maybe we will have sadness but will be comforted.

What if you have a loved one who did not make it to heaven. Will you remember them and if you do remember them and all the times you shared together how could you not have some sadness knowing they are in the lake of fire?

I think you will know about those loved ones who may not have been saved, but God will impart knowledge to us, so we see the "big picture", and we will understand better what decisions they made to get there, and undertsand God's Love and justice better, which i think will help us cope better with those losses.

I tend to agree with everyone that we will retain our memories of the lives we lived. However, I have talked with some who don't think we will. Is there any scriptures that have lead you to believe the way you do and to support the idea that we do retain our memories?

Yes! In HEAVEN and in the Millilumum Kingdom and in Eternity Beyond we will have our memories. Will we remember our loved ones who did not accept Christ NO! we will forget they ever existed, (I believe some scripture either in Isiah or Ezekial explains this). Our Presence in HEAVE N OUR Lives in Heaven will be changed forever and we will concentrate more on Christ than anything else.
