On the parade.com website it has a feature titled "Ask Marilyn". She poses the question "Thou shalt not.....if you could add a commandment what would it be?" Is this wrong because in God's word it says:
Revelation 22:18,19 - Whoever adds to Jesus' words, God will add to him the plagues in the book. Whoever takes from God's words, his part will be removed from the holy city.

Well, first of all you've misquoted that verse. Second, a flight of fantasy (which is what is asked for) is not adding to God's word.
No. It's not wrong.

Hi All.
Well Martha what scottruff has said is true first the full quote : 18 I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book:
19 and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.
Now as for what was asked for on that persons site was a flight of fancy. it was a what if question so there is no worry about adding to or taking away from the word of God. Its like trying to work out who the AC may be or the false prophet, or may be when the Rapture might take place. Its that kind of thing so you have no worries at all about what was asked.
Mind you I do not think that you could add any to those commandments as I think the Lord covered them all & anyway if you read the word of God, yes there are the main 10 Commandments but as I said if you read it all you will see that there are really 613 this link will take you to them all http://members.ozemail.com.au/~adamgosp/otcomm.htm .
God Bless you all

While it could be argued that it is not adding to the Word of God, it certainly is making you think about adding to the Law. This Law was done away with at the Cross, the Law was a schoolmaster to teach us of sin. We are warned about making the Cross of Christ of none effect.
For me this is a dangerous waste of time.

I thought I was quoting that scripture, but now I see from the website I got it from it was explaining that verse. My apologies for posting it as a quote.
Thanks for the reply nevertheless.

I always thought that quote was referring to the Book of Revelation, since at the time it was written it was a stand-alone book.
Not that I would ever want to add to or take away from *any* of the Bible.

Oh gosh! I just re-read my first post. It's so abrupt it comes across very harsh. I was in a awful rush when I wrote that but that's no excuse. Sorry.
