When God Wrote His Message In the Sky

By Rev. Mark H. Creech

06/01/2006

On Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI visited the Auschwitz concentration camp. According to USA Today, during the visit the Pope said: "In a place like this, words fail; in the end, there can be only a dread silence, a silence which itself is a heartfelt cry to God: Why, Lord, did you remain silent? How could you tolerate all this?" Most interesting, it seemed as though God anticipated the question, as well as sought to answer it. For when the Pope walked along the row of memorial plaques at the complex, stopping to pray, the drizzle of rain immediately ended and a magnificent rainbow appeared over the camp.

When the world offers us what we cannot comprehend,
Remember God sits on the throne, on that you can depend!

who is the clay to question the potter? God didnt keep silent. If you realize, this is exactly why the Jews were scatterd, so they wouldnt be exterminated.

I will give the Pope the benefit of the doubt, though I am not a fan of the office of the Pope. But, it would seem likely the man was aware of the some the scriptural precedent for his statement.

Hsa 5:15 I will go [and] return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

Psa 22:2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Psa 28:1 [[[A Psalm] of David.]] Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, [if] thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

Psa 30:12 To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
