HI,
Why did God choose Mary to be Jesus' mother? Out of all the women and nationality's why did he chose Mary and the Jewish blood line??. That also goes with saying why did he choose Jesus to be of Jewish blood? That answers why the Jew's are His choosen people after the fact of Mary giving birth.
Thanks for your replies.

Mary was in the line of David, just as God promised David. Joseph was also in the line of David. While Joseph was not Jesus' natural father, Jesus inherited David's throne through him under Jewish law.
God chose Abram and made him the first Jew out of pure grace.
Chuck Missler provides an excellent discussion of this in Learn the Bible in 24 Hours.

I do not know why He chose Mary specifically, but the Jews were already His chosen people before Mary ever gave birth.
I'm sure the Lord already had Mary in mind back in the Garden of Eden.

Abram was known as a Hebrew, not a Jew.
The first true 'Jew' was Judah.
"Israel" came through Jacob's name change.
However - Hebrew, Israelite, and Jew have all been synonymous with each other for some time now.

In my opinion he chose the Jews because the man who pleased God most (Abram) just happened to be Jewish. Knowing that man would sin God had the whole plan worked out so he had to choose somebody to work his plan through.
He made the promise to Abram and therefor his seed(the Jews) were the recipiant of the promise. If it had been an etheopian than we'd be asking the same question of ethiopians. God is not a racest. His plan through the Jews is mearly the fullfillment of his promise to Abram. As for why Mary...probably because she was about as pure they get as far as women go.

First of all Mary had to be a special women who had grace and humility.
Secondly there was a blood line from David to Jesus through her and thirdly I believe that there was a pure line from Adam to Mary in her seed.

Genesis 12:1-4
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee:
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great: and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him;
Hebrews 11:8
By faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after, receive for an inheritance, OBEYED, and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Luke 1:38
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord: be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Abram and Mary were obedient to God even when it meant personal loss of home, family, country, and community respect in Mary's case.

I don't believe He chose her as we understand being chosen. I believe that God determined that He would create a specific kind of woman and have her born for the very purpose of bearing and raising the Son of God.

Her bloodline was most important to fulfill prophecy. She was also a humble servant and God chose to honor her above women. I am not convinced she had intrinsic value beyond that.
and the Jewish blood line??.
The Jews were priviledged by God by His choosing, and Abraham was known as a 'friend of God.' The Jews were descendants of Abraham, and God keeps His promises.
That also goes with saying why did he choose Jesus to be of Jewish blood?
To fulfill the promises.
That answers why the Jew's are His choosen people after the fact of Mary giving birth.
In the main, yes....imo.
That being said, the Jews are a priviledged race, and have suffered immensely over the years for their disobedience. We owe them a debt of gratitude for what they have brought to us, and honor where honor is due.
Thanks for your replies.

You know those old Mission Impossible shows. The tape plays..."and should you accept this mission....."
I think Mary was chosen in part because God knew she would say "Yes" to her mission. We should all be so willing to accept the mission God has for us.

God created Mary specifically for the roll. It's not like God "picked" Mary out of a zillion potential women.
FWIW God would have created Joseph, the Inn keeper and the Shepherds too ... each one for the purpose for which they ultimately delivered.

God Promised Eve after the fall that her seed would crush the head of the serpent.
This is the first hint at the Virgin Birth of the Redeemer, because nothing is mentioned about Adam's seed.
God chose Abraham's descendants to bring forth Messiah because of Abraham's faithfulness.
Although Isaac was conceived in the usual way, it most certainly was miraculous because Sarah was years beyond child-bearing. A fore-shadowing of Christ's miraculous conception.
David was promised to become an ancestor of Jesus, fulfilled in Mary.
The Lord gave Mary a choice though...another loving example of how He gave us a free-will. She knew she risked ostracizing & stoning, but she trusted that God would protect her.
