Comfort me

Don't tell me Passion. I don't care how old but I would like to see a movie that truly expresses who the Lord is.

The passion shows Jesus suffering for our sins, and then rising from the dead.... all the rest can be forgot.
I have Jesus of Nazerth, and the greatest story ever told.
Both are good.
Jesus in Jesus of Nazereth is a british fella with blue eyes:B: But I can get past all the hoopla and non acurate way he looked and focas on what His mission was.

That's a hard one. I would say that physically, Mel Gibson portrayed a much more palatable and realistic Jesus than any others that I've seen. He at least looked like He'd eaten a meal. I just about broke my dvd in two when I saw a blue-eyed Jesus portrayed as a practically platinum blonde child who grew up to have blue-eyes as an adult in JoN. :rolleyes Second would be 'Gospel of John'.
Anyhoo, story-wise, I'd say Gospel of John then Jesus of Nazareth. I can't watch anymore of them though. :tsk If I see one more scrawny, could never lift a beam, never-been-outside, can't-possibly-be-Jewish, someone-lopped off three quarters of MY beard, Jesus', I will simply scream. Why make Him look so puny? :twitch He was a MAN.
Oh, let me just say it. He was a Carpenter 2000 years ago. They didn't have cute, manageable, sheets of plywood, routers, brad nailers, biscuit cutter, and little 2 X 4's then! They had trees, for pete's sake! Those woosies couldn't lift a 2 x 12 if their life depended on it; let alone a tree. And use an axe :lol To fell a tree?
I say:
NO MORE GIRLY JESUS! NO MORE GIRLY JESUS!!!

My favorite is "Matthew: The Visual Bible." (http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=006631&netp_id=336451&event=ESRCN&item_code=WW)
It's the entire book of Matthew acted out. This Jesus is very believable. This one is way better, IMHO, than The Passion.

I liked the "Jesus" film the best. It's wonderful for teaching the unsaved about the life & ministry of Jesus. The gospel is clearly presented & it's available free online in several different languages. (I'll post the link later).

I tend to agree. I used to watch that film alot. I like that it shows him arguing just a little bit with the chief priests/pharisees, but this example seems somewhat realistic to me compared to most out there. I think that they made his hair look too neat, though.
Most of the other Jesus films, I think, make him look spaced out or too wierd. Now "The Matthew Project" isn't bad, but it doesn't hit me like the "Jesus" film.

The Gospel of John is very very good.
the script is the gospel text. narrated when John is narrating, the characters speak as he quotes them. very good.
this isn't to say that other methods are lesser in any way - just saying this is one of the good ones.

I like the "Jesus" film best also. We show it at our home on Good Friday, almost every year. We invite people over, and serve finger-food type stuff. We have such fun, and it has been a great tradition. (We usually invite new Christians, or seekers)
PS we also invite Christians over to watch "St John in Exile" at other times during the year. It is the most awesome "movie" I have ever seen. It isn't even really a movie, it is a one-man show, live, on-stage, with an audience. (Played by... I forget his name... played in the old Herbie movie... hmmmmmmmm...... help! I think his last name is Dean..)

I agree.
There's another one which TBN plays around Easter-time, which isn't half bad. Their fellow in the role of Yeshua isn't nordic or German!

The Messiah: Prophecy Fulfilled
A dramatic Gospel presentation of the birth of Christianity, showing how one Rabbi (Nick Mancuso) becomes a follower of Yeshua of Nazareth. Being filled with the Holy Spirit, Rabbi Yehudah zealously embarks on a journey to share the Good News with his people. He arrives to his hometown, precisely one year after the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of the Messiah. Now his greatest challenge is to convince his loved ones that the long awaited Messiah Son of David has finally come.

The History Channel presents this movie every year - either around Christmas or Easter.
I only saw some of the Gospel of John, but what I saw I liked very much - true to Scripture and pretty good acting too.
