How is one to really know what is from God, and what is from the devil?
I amso confused on this. My Dh has been looking for ajob for 6 months, one comes up but it is more than a 1000 miles away. We wouldn't see each other for long long periods at a time. So how is one to know whether it is from God or something we should stay away from.

there are some questions to ask yourself to help in the decision making.
Do you have peace of mind about the job?
Is it possible for both of you/the family to go with DH.
Is it want he/you want in the job/location line?
Pray, and ask guidance of freinds/family.

So how is one to know whether it is from God or something we should stay away from. I guess I don't understand why both of you could not relocate if it is 1,000 miles away.
That would put a terrible strain on a marriage. I think a good basic principle to consider is that you cannot keep two people together by keeping them apart.
You can know if something is of God or of the devil by looking at the situation and then determining if it calls for compromising the Word of God in any area of your life. God is consistent. I do not believe that He would call someone to do something at the expense of them having to sacrifice another biblical commandment or principle. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians that the Devil masquerades as an "angel of light" - hence, he can present something as being good when it is not.
A husband's duty goes beyond making money.
- Husbands, are to love their wives, as Christ loves the church
- Husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.
- A man shall cleave to his wife,
- He is to dwell with her in an understanding way, i.e. he is to know her, understand her, perceive and have knowledge of her.
- he is treat her as the weaker partner yet give her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life.
- Women are to submit to their husband's headship, be his companion, to love him. The husband's authority is a protection for his wife.
These are not options. They are some of the responsibilities that husbands and wives have toward each other irregardless of the employment and financial situation. Being 1,000 miles away from home in the normal course of one's job would cause these principles to be severely compromised.
I also have asked myself: where was Adam when Satan tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden?
I think it is significant that Adam is conspicuously absent while Eve dialogued with the devil about eating the forbidden fruit. I find it hard to believe that Adam was standing by observing all this quietly without interjecting, particularly when she reached for that fruit to eat it. I believe that it is noteworthy that Satan attacked the woman when the husband was not present.
Proverbs 7 tells us that temptation came when the husband was away from home on a journey.
I know what it is like to be unemployed. Yet, My marriage is a sacred union of my wife and me. God said that what he joined together, let no one put asunder. I would not put our marriage in a compromising position like that for the sake of a job. If it is something that we could not do together, than it is not an option for me.
