Obviously, if you haven't heard it yet, listen before responding so you know where the numerous people that know the materials are coming from. (thanks)

Hells Best Kept Secret is about witnessing. Its based on what Jesus did, and it's far from the normal "methods" today. At its core, its using the Law (the Ten commandments) to bring the knowledge os sin, then explaining that Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment for it. (in a nut shell version)

Its based on the times it's used in scripture.

Luke 10, 18 Matt 15, 19

Mark 10, the story of the rich ruler.... Jesus gave him the law to show no one was good, then showed him he broke the first commandment by making money the most important thing to him.

The woman at the well... Jesus said bring your husband here, and she said I have no husband, then He said you have had 5 husbands, and the man you live with now is not your husband either. He showed her sin, before showing Himslef to be the Savior.

Paul used it. He taught it in the churches though the letters, He said what exactly the law was.

Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

When used for the right reason, to bring knowledge of sin and show someone they need God's forgiveness, then the good news of Jesus paying the fine makes sense.

Romans 3:19-20
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

It's God's law that tells us what sin is...

1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

By showing someone what sin is, it helps them understand that they have offended God.

Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men,
nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”


Once one understands the seriousness of sin... (like Paul said)

Romans 7:13
Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.

Then they can understand why God's wrath abides on them, and they need His forgiveness.

Psalms 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Once one has grasped the understanding that they have sinned.. (lied, stole, used His name as a curse word, lusted, hated, (murder in God's site) ect.) then they begin to see themselves in the true light.

It's only then, that a person can see what a great value the cross has, and the awsome gift that Christ gave when He paid for our sin with His blood. We broke God's Law, and Jesus paid our fine.

Unless someone understands sin, then the cross won't make sense at all to them..

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.


Jesus didn't always use the law though. There were times when someone was already humbled, and saw their need for forgiveness. Scripture uses two main points... Law to the proud, and grace to those who have been humbled.


To those who object to this teaching, please state objections, use scripture if you can, and explain why this "method" is in error." Keep in mind that on RR, many people here have used it to bring others to Christ, or have grown though understanding in the WOTM video series. It's value in bringing people to Christ is going to be hard to dispute.

I think it could be effective.

Even if someone was oppositional to this method, it would certainly plant a seed.

It does seem to work well with those that consider or claim themselves Christians or believers in the Judeo-Christian God already.

Dan, your CD's and DVD's are what got me into watching regularly and then when the opportunity came along, to show the first eight episodes at our Wednesday night Bible study at church. Thoroughly enjoyed and all learned a bit more about witnessing. I ordered the first two seasons so we've 18 more episodes to watch. (Hey, dh didn't get me anything for Mother's Day so...I shopped for myself! :D:) These DVD's have so much to offer us.
And Dan, thank you again so much for your generosity and kindness.

I'm glad you got some use out of them, but to be honest, I don't even remember sending them to ya.:lol

I'm getting old.....

At any rate, i'm glad you got to show them to others. God might raise up people who will labor from the group. It just takes a spark to start a forest fire.

When people get on fire for God, others will come to watch them burn...
