Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel
Laying up treasures? Maybe some on this board are, but I'll bet most are just working to pay the bills, take care of the family and so on. So I think the scripture I included here is where it's at for most folks. Bet they'd like to be able to save for unexpected needs and maybe retirement, but tough to do.
The scripture you used - and I'm not meaning to be mean....is used by the TV preachers as part of their bid for your dollars. Good old guilt induction as a fund raiser.

Very nice!
You know the saying, "you can;t take it with you" refering to your worldly treasures....
....but, here is something to think about.
If you were going to visit a foriegn country, You would more than likely convert your currency (most of it anyway) to the currency of the nation you were going to visit.
You certainly wouldn;t go there and then exchange it at a lower rate.
So you CAN take it with you so to speak.
You can pay it forward into your account in heaven, as written in the verse you mentioned.
Use the blessings God has provided you here on earth and send it forward, so it is there waiting for you in heaven. :thumb

raptngrace, I don't think the OP was referring to retirement plans or buying CDs or stocks and bonds, but our heavenly treasures that are built up by our good works after being saved by the blood of Jesus. In fact, it specifically says to not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth.
