Sometimes when I talk to teens over this chat site about God they start saying weird things "stop you're scaring me" "I'm scared, go away" I haven't even mentioned hell at all! I just said something like "so what do you believe about God? =)" I don't know why they act like that, they act like I'm shouting "you're going to hell!!!" :confused Does anyone else get that response? Is it just because they have some weird view about God or christians being scary/mean? :doh :confused

Well if they are not saved you know they don't have the spirit so talking about God is not a natural thing for them like it is us. You may sound strange to them....sometimes when people just start talking about God it catches them off gaurd or they may think....weirdo....Talking about God evokes many different reactions with people. It's the times we live in. But bless you because our youth really need to hear about Jesus........just expect all different types of responses.

Their flesh rebels against the truth. Almost all non-believers when faced with the truth will have over-exaggerated responses. When applying antiseptic to a wound, it burns & stings like crazy. Remember also that the devil tells lies to all of us when we are not saved. Those lies consist of "you're okay", "you deserve to enjoy this life to the fullest", "you are a nice person", "you don't have to do anything more....you will go to heaven", etc. This puts people in a very comfortable place....and the truth challenges that.

I totally agree with the above 2 posts, could'nt put any better! But, my 16 year old daughter's friends do ask me things about my faith, things that the bible may view(gays), and lots of other things. My ministry is in my car when I drive them home. I just this week witnessed to her best friend who says he is an atheist! Glory to our awesum GOD!! So, hang in there, always be very calm and confident with teens cuz they can throw lots of stuff your way!

It's not comforting to have your evil ways brought to the Light is it? It's scary to know your errors and the penalties of them. It's too easy to think everything is OK and just keep on going and not give more thought to God and what is right and what is wrong.
I think they know who is Truth, but are afraid to acknowledge it. If only they could see that it's by His grace they we can come to Him and by His grace we are forgiven because He has paid our fine. He is the greater joy, not the least joy! For many the view of following Christ is not joyful, we need to make it known that it is a greater joy to follow Him than to not.

I read in a cartoon this morning where teens say you are shouting because you are just telling them something they don't want to hear. If they listen to you, they just might have to change their ways, and that is not ok for them. Sandy

I too have had people, mostly young, do things like you mentioned. Most of the time they are just making fun of me for believe in God and Hell. If the conversation goes on long enough they will start laughing and make even more statements. Like you are so dumb I wish there was a hell because that is where you need to go. Or it is so scary to know that so many adults are so stupid, it is a miracle that we haven't destroyed the world completely with our ignorance, etc.
