I just started reading a book by Paul C Long.He states that in the bible it talks about the only way you can be born again is by 1. the faith of the baptism of jesus. 2. he died on the cross. It states that when he got baptized by John in the Jordan River is when he took on the sins of the whole world. And that believing in just that Jesus died on the cross wont be enough. That is where Christians are mislead.....but if you believe in the bible and jesus and everything that it says he did....wouldnt you believe in the baptism anyways? :confused

My understanding of this is that Jesus took on the sins of the world on the cross..........if He had done this in the Jordan river, he would not have had to go to the cross.
When we are baptised we are showing the world our belief in Christ. When Jesus was baptised by John, He was proclaiming who He is! And, God the Father sent the dove to land on His shoulder, saying "This is My Son - in whom I am well pleased."
Our faith and salvation stand on the blood of Christ.

Paul C. Long is a liar.
Throw that book in the garbage and get out your Bible and read Hebrews. Hebrews explains to the Jews how the law was fulfilled in the sacrifice at the cross.
Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Nothing of His baptism is given for redemption.

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Ephesians 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

It states that when he got baptized by John in the Jordan River is when he took on the sins of the whole world.
No that is not what the bible teaches (if you think this is what the bible teaches what verses do you think teach this?).
The bible teaches that Jesus took our sins by dying on the cross.
Paul C Long is giving you false teaching.
