My Church is not lousy. But, I am curious about what people do in such circumstances.
In my church, I hear a little more grumbling that I usually do. More lack of communication. Suspicions and a sense that certain people have trouble with other people. After spending lots of time at Church with landscaping, flowers and baking for fellowship, I feel too many neglect their ability and call to invest in and make a place of worship beautiful. There are doctrinal topics you don't bother discussing and issues where it is hard to be heard. I get a sense of wounded feelings in several places. Prayer is a chore that people begrudge.
But, the church is Bible believing. People are not harsh with each other, but are pleasant in fellowship. People are not shunned overtly. The worship has a lot of energy. I could mention more good things, but suffice it to say that the Church is sound in the basics.
But, like a tired marriage in which we want more life, it is time to address some issues. What do you think?
I have a couple of main ideas: 1. Never assume that you have prayed enough or relied upon the Lord enough for the new life he wants to give. 2. The Church relationship is like a marriage. Respect your husband, Love your wife as Paul said. Do not deny one another. Regardless of anything else anyone does or deserves, you put in the same love and respect. Or put more in.
