Scripture dealing with Demons

I've read revelations, but I have not found many descriptions of Demons. I need some help finding them. My friend had told me about his experience and I was wondering what he may have seen.
He told me when he was laying in bed one night in the dark,and He said this night he felt as though something evil was abound. He then continued about his business and a few moments later he saw a little light orb for a split second, he said it was about the size of a Tv remote button. it then dissapeared, he said that he spoke the lords name and a few seconds later in the dark a whitish smear he could see in the dark moved quickly infront of him and out of what he perceived to be the wall or room. I use the word smear because it wasnt like an "aborition", because aborition allows people to assume it has human form, but this was more like what white paint would look like if thrown on a glass window and moved across the room. I dont doubt he saw this. Truth be told he has never said anything like this before, and I believe him whole heartedly. He said he was then scared to death, either by the spirit or natural reaction, in any event he jumped up and left the room.
Also This makes me believe demons come in many shapes as I too have seen what i believed to be demons on the street. Once a few years ago a few strange events surrounded me while I was on vacation out of town. It all started at dinner when I went to a restaurant and the waiter knew my name and my birthday was coming up somehow. My family wasnt sure they had told them, and being slightly anti social I asked them not to disclose anymore of my business out loud. We left and went to a haunted house with the real people inside. Upon entering there, the man at the gate said my name, I saw the expressions on my family members faces as they realized he knew my name too somehow.(I never wear my name on my clothes incase you were wondering). After exiting I asked them who said my name, and they all denied it; which i did believe because I never heard it. Then on my way down the street back to the hotel I was joking about with my family in a group of about 50 other people walking down the sidewalk, and I stumbled over a curb, I heard this voice say "Watch your step", and I didnt look cause I was playing it off like nobody saw that, about 100ft later I turned around to see if the guy was talking to me, and to my surpirse he was still staring at me. This man looked creepy as I dont know what. In any event he could've just been some drunk guy, but my gut told me that he wasnt drunk. To this day I think the man was demonic in some way. In any event two stories what say you all?

I used to obsess over this stuff, wanting to learn alot about it. I've found trying to follow Christ is better by about 5,000,000 times. Yes, the bad guys manifest sometimes although rare and I don't care to have any run ins with em', but you call upon the Lord and drive on.

Is Jesus your Savior? If so, cling to Jesus and study the Word of God. Do not investigate or dwell on these things. If you do, you will invite it into your life.

James 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Matthew 4 tells us of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. He always used scripture to resist the devil. Memorize scripture and use it should anything like this occur in the future.

Matt 4:10-11 Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it is writeen, YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY, Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.

Paul tells us in order that no advantage be taken of us by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his schemes (2Cor. 2:11)
A great book for you to look into is called, "The invisable War" by Robert Randall. It deals with Satan, demons, scripture, and how to defeat them. I really don't think we should ignore scriptures that deal with demons or satan.

There aren't many visual descriptions. In the new testament, you might do a search on "devil" in the KJV and you will find their activities decribed in detail. But seldom were they "visibly" described. The old testament has some descriptions of Satan or Lucifer....and you might check out Ezekiel 1.

Actually, in my opinion, and based upon the word of God, the demonic will not necessarily appear as some "creepy" or "scary" entity.

They usually affect the physical world by influencing men to say and do evil.

I am not trying to discount your experiences, but I think the biblical descriptions of the demonic do not fit mens horror depictions. I believe if you actually saw one, you might even think it beautiful? Now what they do to men, in posessions etc....may be a different story?

Actually, in my opinion, and based upon the word of God, the demonic will not necessarily appear as some "creepy" or "scary" entity.... I believe if you actually saw one, you might even think it beautiful? :nod 2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

IMHO, the lack of detail about demons in God's word is an indication of how much focus we should put on it in our own lives as we live for Him. Certainly we should be aware that there is another side, operating in a war against us, and we need to be on alert for attacks from that side. However, there are three sources of tempation described for us in the bible--the world, the flesh, and the devil. IMHO in these days, the first two give us enough trouble that the last has to do a lot less work than we'd like to think :(:

Rev 9:2-11
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

Also, Rev 16:13-14
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, [which] go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Perhaps this description (Rev 16:13-14) is more like the "orb" your friend saw.

I am not ignoring anything. My point is that scripture tells us all we need to know about the spirit world, and we don't need to do investigating about what form they take. It doesn't matter how spirits appear to us. Scripture tells us that satan is an angel of light and that he was beautiful, just as LeMontre said previously. Anything that doesn't point us toward God should be suspect.

Quest777 asked the correct question--are there SCRIPTURES dealing with demons. IMHO, there is no need to read a book on the subject when GOD Himself gives us the answers. Praise God for His Holy Word!
