I'm reading a book by Chuck Swindoll called "So You Want to be Like Christ?"

toward the end, he really sums it up here:

You want to be like Christ? Find the least desired position, the task no one else wants, the worst seat in the house and claim it. Make it yours.

That really made me think. I sometimes think I've done this to some degree, in working with the mentally ill. What are some other ways we can go about achieving this?

By not being afraid to hang around "sinners".

I'm not saying we should be like them, but we need to be with them.

Loving more and judging less....

Very good points. And very hard to do, but I try to do this as well. These things are so against our nature, its easy to just try to avoid such people when these are the ones we need to reach out to.

Spread His love. Let everyone know how much He loves them. I've been planning on keeping a bag of non-perishable easy open food and a bible in my car. That way I'll have something to offer when I meet those homeless in my city. Make yourself available to give of yourself whenever asked, even if it conflicts with your schedule.

By volunteering for the jobs that no one else wants at your local church body...cleaning up, working the nursery, teaching 3-5 year old's, etc.

BTW...that's a great book :nod. I really enjoyed it, as I do all of the ones by Swindoll I've read.
