Eph 1:4-6
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Sums it up nicely,

Tattoed, ya know. :laughWell, I'm glad he chose you in advance then....He tried to nail me with a bolt of lightning when I got mine. Thankfully my tattoo artist's tongue ring acted as sort of a lightning rod & thus, I was spared on that day & now carry forward this dire warning to others to stay away from tattoo parlors.... :heh
Okay, sorry....

1corinthians 1
26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”[c]

The Word took root in your spirit man and you believed.
GOd does not MAKE anyone believe.
That is ridiculous.

I'm confused. Who said God makes people believe? I don't remember reading any posts that said that. :confused

Eph 1:4
For He chose us....
What a blessed, awesome set of words. HE CHOSE US!! I don't think I'll ever get over the wonder of those few words.
I don't understand it, but I just thank Him for it all the time!:):

Your right God doesn't make us believe; but you can't believe unless God chooses you.

I have a question for you. Why does the Spirit take root in a one person and not another? Could it be because God chose that someone would come to faith in Him by giving them the ability to believe? As the verse below, John 6:44, states noone is ABLE to come to Jesus UNLESS they are drawn. Also John 6:65 plainly states the same thing. No one comes to God unless they are enabled by God to so. The only reason why some come to Him and others do not is because of His good pleasure and grace to those He has chosen.
Also checkm out Jesus' High Priestly prayer in John 17 and you will see this theme taught as well. We are GIVEN to Jesus by the Father.
What God does is enables man to believe because man by nature is Hid enemy and Hostile to Him and unable to come to Christ until the Lord changes them first and enables them (see Rom 8:5-8)
John 17:6 "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.
John 17:9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.
John 17:24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
NT:1670
helkuo (hel-koo'-o); or helko (hel'-ko); probably akin to NT:138; to drag (literally or figuratively):
(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
Strongs word 1670 is bolded in the following verses which are the only instances where it is used in the NT according to the Englishmans concordance of the PC Study Bible:
John 12:32 But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."
John 18:10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.)
John 21:6 He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
John 21:11Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
John 6:65 He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."
Acts 16:19 When the owners of the slave girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.
Acts 21:30 The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. Seizing Paul, they dragged him from the temple, and immediately the gates were shut.
James 2:6 But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?

Does God choose some, then unchoose them, and then rechoose them again?
Is it up to us to keep saved?
Some teach it is a coop effort.
I don't see that in scripture.

I think when personally applying this question we won't fully understand until Bema or White Throne.
The parable of the soil reveals a heart too hard for the gospel.
I don't think God makes hearts hard but will provide opportunity to make it harder such as Pharoah's stubbornness.
The Holy Spirit does woo and quicken our spirits leading us towards an irresistable salvation.
Our only effort in God's plan is to be open and accepting.
Just like Abraham fell asleep when God sacrificed for the covenant, we in turn don't do anything to earn or keep our salvation.

Why did HE choose me,before the foundation of the world.I can't find the
answer.I't seems to be because it gave Him pleasure ...
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will ...
Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself ...
Phi 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. It gives Him the Glory ... Rom 9:22-24
(22) What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
(23) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
(24) Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Rom 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
