I finally got off a letter to my Father-in-Law and would like to share it - everyone was a tremendous help, I thank you all and welcome any comments on this letter - I just sent it to him 2 minutes ago.......
Shortly after ya'lls visit I wanted to increase my knowledge of the Scripture and climb to a higher level of understanding, or as Paul put it, get off the milk and into the meat. Not long after my car accident when you sent me my Bible you also gave me some stuff by Kenneth Copeland, and knowing how much stock you put in his teachings I figured he would be the ideal choice to help guide me. I don't know if I've ever made it known to you or not but I have a deep and genuine respect for you and your love and knowledge of the Scripture. I'd be satisfied to know just half of what you've forgotten.
So I went on the internet to order some of his tapes and books and found a site that not only listed everything he's ever put out but gave an overview of his teachings and recommendations on what to get first, how to study, ect.......This is where I read some things that has confused me terribly, as they are absolutely contrary to everything I thought I had learned up to this point. I realize I am as an infant in my walk with our Lord but thanks to Les Feldick,Charles Stanley,David Jeremiah and Hal Lindsey I have come quite a ways this past year - or atleast I thought I had. This has me desperately wondering how many other things I could be wrong about and the extent of my discouragement is very disheartening.
There are a couple things in particular that I need to ask you about. First, he says that Jesus was the first Born Again man and that his Deity didn't begin until he was baptised and the holy Spirit decended upon Him, therefore He was not born God. Kenneth said God told him that as a born-again-man he himself could have accomplished the same thing on the Cross that Jesus had if it had been the only requirement for our salvation, but only God was able to continue on into hell to further suffer and do battle with satan for 3 days. Is this in an old manuscript that wasn't put in our present day Bibles or what ? I know he decended to hades for the sake of the Saints that had died up to that point, but the rest of it is all new to me.
He also says " You don't have a god in us, we are one .When I read in the Bible where he (Jesus) says 'I Am', I just smile and say 'I Am' too." Here is another quote I'm having a real hard time with. "Gods reason for creating Adam was his desire to reproduce himself. I mean a reproduction of Himself. And in the Garden of Eden He did just that. He was not a little like God, He was not almost like God, He was not subordinate to God even ... Adam was as much like God as you can get, just the same as Jesus. Adam in the Garden of Eden was God manifested in the flesh".
Please help me out here, Bill. Give our love to Lou and tell her Cindy will call this weekend.......God bless !

He should have a good deal of trouble answering those questions, and it didn't come off as judgemental, but as an infant in Christ having severe problems with someone's teaching and asking for help to reconcile it from a mature Christian.

In His love,

Charles -- not much to say but a big :hug

It is more difficult taking on doctrinal disputes between believers than sharing your faith with non-believers. :doh

May the Lord use your words (and your concerns) to grow all of you in your respective walks with Him.

Just wanted to offer my encouragment. You did the right thing. Even if it is not received well. People just don't like being told they are wrong to put their faith in certain people's interpretation of the God's word. Great job for standing up for the truth. :D:

Hi Charles, I missed your first post but wanted to let you know I'm praying for you. I used to be WOF and followed Ken Copeland and all the other WOF biggies. If you ever have any questions please feel free to PM me.

A word to the wise: right now he'll have answers to your questions. WOF can be backed up by twisting scripture and taking it out of context. Be prepared for a lot of resistance when you begin to point this out to him even if you're using very obvious black and white scriptures that contradict his beliefs. With WOF you are taught to suspend your thinking skills in order to "not walk in the flesh." The result is you're in the habit of believing the unbelievable and you really lose your ability to discern fact from fiction biblically. At least I did.

Also it may take years for him to come out of it. I was constantly following the WOF threads here on RR and it still took a good 4 years for God to open my eyes and completely deliver me. I'm praying for you!
