i just had a random thought: satans job is to basically make us lose our faith. so, if we dont get enough water, we become dehydrated, and we might not even know it. dehydration makes us cranky and makes us feel crappy. so, is the lack of an urge to drink water satanic???? is that why it's so hard for americans to drink the average amount of water daily? whoa.....:faint

Yep! You're right.. that's weird! :B:

Although,,, I DO see an analogy. :nod

If we don't drink enough water, we become dehydrated.. Likewise.. If we don't feed ourselves enough milk or meat.. i.e.... depending on our walk... what we need to feed ourselves through the Word... we can become 'starved'. ;):

Most American do not drink enough water! The average person should drink 1/2 ounce per body pound plus more due to heat or exercising! For example, if a male weighs 200 lbs, he should drink a minimum of 100 oz of water every day, plus more if he exercises or it is hot outside! You'll rarely catch me without water in hand! Deheydration is a very common, yet an unrecognized state, however; I do not believe it is demonic, just ignorance!

Because like everything else in America - if a little is good then a ton must be great.

Bottled, purified & tap water are all big, BIG business in America. It is no wonder that everyone from Dr.s to the government suggest we drink enough daily to nearly drown ourselves. It is no different than any other industry that tries to make the masses believe they cannot survive without a particular product.

And to answer your question....the lack of urge to drink water when we are initially thirsty is not from Satan but from the one who created us. He made our bodies able to endure periods of fasting for obvious reasons. Can you imagine if your body could not regulate itself well enough to go a few hours or even half a day or more withoiut drinking anything??

If your urine is clear, you are drinking enough.

Its actually possible to drink too much water and over-dilute your electrolytes.

And drinking far too much water (I mean A LOT, more than any normal human being could, we're just in the hypotheical here) can throw things so out of whack you can get "drunk" and die (but your stomach would probably break before you hit that point anyway...)

Are you people literally talking about the consumption of H2O?

For crying out loud . . . I thought babydane was being allegoric. You know . . . water being the Word of God . . . etc, etc. :rolleyes :lol

This is a very timely subject for me. I suffer from chronic gastritis, which means the lining of my stomach becomes very irritated. Small sips of water can be very painful. I'm having a bout right now. If it doesn't resolve itself by Monday, I might be in the hospital overnight for IV hydration.
I can tell you from experience that being even mildly to moderately dehydrated can make you feel awful. You get very confused, dizzy, forgetful and a whole host of other symptoms.

I was talking to a doctor of Mid Eastern descent who believes that Muslims living in desert areas are chronically dehydrated, and he feels this could somehow contribute to some of the fanatical behavior seen in those areas. I don't know how true this is, but it makes a little sense on some level. Maybe instead of bombs we should just attack the insurgents with Normal Saline solution (I guess that would be too easy.)

I heard a doctor say that after not drinking enough water for a long time, you lose your natural thirst for water. This dr. said this happens lots in homes for the elderly.

I am never without a bottle of water either but I filter mine myself. It saves a TON of money. I got a relatively cheap Aqua Rain which lasts a LONG time without needing new filters and doesn't depend on electricity. But even if you got a more expensive reverse osmosis distiller, you'd still save the price pretty soon, compared to bottled water.

I never thought I could get off Diet Coke. I tried it years ago and just about lost the will to live--the will to eat anyway, if I couldn't have a Diet Coke with food, so I thought I was hopeless. I'd hate to think how addicting Coke was when they put actual cocaine in it 100 yrs. ago.

But after reading how horrible Nutrasweet is, I decided I just had to quit. It's been almost 2 years now and my favorite drink is water now, which I never would have believed could happen to me!

A friend just got back from Las Vegas a week or two ago, in that heat. They were told NEVER to go anywhere without LOTS of water and to drink a bottle every 20 minutes!!! But she said it was so hot that it all sweated off so getting to a bathroom was no problem.

I will say that I know some people who belong to a church considered a cult by some. They are pressured to stick to a very strict diet which I think is very deficient. I've noticed that in addition to being very weak, they don't seem to think well at all either. I don't know that it's an intentional plan by church leaders to keep these people from thinking logically about their church's doctrine. I think they all sincerely believe their diet is just great. But it also seems to make it easier to convince these poor people of some strange ideas. So this is kind of similar to your idea about Satan using physical weaknesses as openings for attacks.

One friend in this church in particular worries me lots. I hadn't seen her for a couple of years and during that time she started following this super strict diet. She'd always been very healthy and happy and now she's just pitiful. I'm afraid she's losing her eyesight and hearing, not to mention her physical strength which is long gone, just because she'll only eat "approved" foods. The 90+ year old people I've known weren't in a shape like she is.

I tried to approach the subject tactfully and finally just told her what I'd read about her diet and that it could be causing her symptoms and maybe permanent damage, but she just repeats what her church says about it, so I gave up on that. I even offered to take her to a doctor who belongs to her church to have her blood levels checked for certain vitamins. She said she would, but it still hasn't happened.

I know a businesswoman who has an employee in this same church and she told her sister the same thing about him. He's so flaky mentally that it would almost be funny, and she says it's because he's so starved and malnourished. She feels sorry for him cause he's a nice guy, and tries to keep him working at least parttime for her.

I know Charles Stanley uses HALT to remember not to let yourself get too Hungry, too Angry, too Lonely, or too Tired, or you'll have trouble dealing with temptation. Here's the outline--it's really good:
