View Full Version : I awoke to voices

I must tell this to someone, because this is the most awesome news....
this past Friday was a busy day for our household. i had my best friends daughters over for a sleepover, my husband had a guy from work over helping him with some guy stuff. we had been very busy all day long with a houseful of people.
Friday night the guy helping my husband---Josh is his name--- wanted to drink, and my husband declined because he is a former drinker, so the young guy decided to drink alone and they stayed outdoors in our camper-trailer while he drank. My husband made him stay the night so he did.
the next morning, i heard voices in the house. at first i thought it was just the tv, because my boys often leave it on all night. I got up and made coffee and then started to listen to these "voices" and what they were saying. It just blew my mind!!
Someone was discussing the Holy Spirit. Someone was talking about faith and being a christian. How to invite Jesus into your heart and what It meant to do so.....How heaven will be for us, what our job as a christian is, why God made us (to be His children/friend/fellowship with us).....etc. etc. etc.
Guess who was telling all of this? My 7 year old Austin was telling Josh all about the "TRUTH" as he called it! So I listened in on this. Josh walks out of the room with tears down his face. I asked what was wrong?
He told me this: "your son...how old is he? that child woke me up and we began talking. He told me why I shouldn't drink. He told me all about Jesus. He explained to me things that I have never understood. He knows things about life that I have taken my whole life to know. He has a sparkle in his eyes that just held me there for 2 hours. I felt like I was shaking all over as he talked to me. and Ive just changed my life forever...starting this morning, because of a child. you are blessed to have him. please dont let anything ever happen to that little boy--he is special beyond words to me right now...."
I thought I would fall over as he told me this. I know that Austin is a very special child. He has the ability to know things on a much deeper level than me!! I love him so much it hurts. There have been times that he has said things to me that I have never thought of before. I can tell him a bible story--Jonah for example...and he will tell it back to me in greater detail and explain to me why and what happened, and it all makes sense!
Then--------this morning when he woke up he came into the kitchen and told me that he had the best dream of his life. He dreamed about Jesus all night he says, and that Jesus' eyes were so beautiful! He described them as looking like a "rainbow". He said that Jesus' eyes were every color. He said that Jesus told him that He was a good little lamb, and Jesus told him a story about a little lamb that was precious. Then he went on to tell me that the rivers in heaven were so clear that you could see right through the water like it wasn't even there it was so clear. He also said that he saw millions of angels, and they had little books like small bibles they were reading from. One angel gave him a bible in his hands and he said that he read from it.
PLEASE Please dont take this all wrong! But my son also said that the dream ended with Jesus telling him that we will be in heaven soon. and we will be with HIM forever. When Austin was telling me these things he kept saying stuff like....your not going to believe me, but this is true momma. He was even sad because when he woke up--- he wasn't with Jesus or the angels or that beautiful place anymore, just in his bed.
I can tell you that there has been a quickening in my spirit....a joy inside. I believe my child telling me these things....simply because i haven't told these things to him myself. He heard them I believe from our Lord.
That young man--Josh, dedicated his life to the Lord that morning. and was led there by a 7 year old child. I rejoice today and wanted to share these things...not because he is just my child, but because he is a child of the Lord and time is drawing near. and even the babes know it and are proclaiming Gods word from their little hearts. Truly amazing.
thanks for reading all of this, if you did! I just had to shout it out or I was going to explode!

It's in the Bible that the struggles of this world aren't worth getting all out of shape over when one knows of the glories of Heaven.
My dad saw some trees in Heaven when he had his heart surgery and said that they were intensly bright, bright vivid green. Life as it occurs and is manifest in Heaven is much more real and glorious than it is here.

Great testimony, Suanne! Thank you so much for sharing.
I understand what you mean by having a quickening in your spirit, where you know that you know that you know, it can only be from the Lord. Your son, I believe, has some spiritual gifts and is already being used in a mighty way by the Lord. And, what a dream! It's so encouraging to be reminded that we'll be home with Jesus forever, and soon!

thank you all for responding! all throughout today Austin has been telling me more about his dream. But I think his most vivid recollection is how Jesus' eyes appeared to him. He keeps telling me how beautiful those rainbow eyes were!
Yes this may be shared with whoever wants to hear it---markofthebeast wanted to share..........so YES! Im so glad that I got to tell someone about this. you christians, you guys are my friends and my family as well.
(You would be surprised how some people wouldn't even think twice about this and just take it as a child who had a weird dream is all. )
I think its much more, and I think the Lord showed him these things because he was faithful by sharing his heart with this young man Josh.
oh yea~~~
he cant remember right now what he read in the book in the dream, but this is the one important thing he said he was told. He said he remembers an angel telling him:

Yes!! Yes!! I cant even begin to tell you how hearing this has helped me too---he has opened my eyes to some things that I never thought of before.
I told him that he was blessed to have had this experience...and also told him that many people were reading about what he had done, and he smiled really big. Im so proud of him for being brave and sharing the word with Josh, as an adult---it is hard for me to share sometimes!! But it was so natural for him as a child. If only we could be that way huh?

From the mouth of Babes!
Great story.
I wouldn't dismiss the son's dream at all.
My two sons a while back swiped a pillow from the couch, they said it was "for Jesus" because "He comes to watch over them at night".
Then a few weeks ago we were getting ready to go on vacation and the pillow had to come along, like they were going to pitch a serious fit if it was left behind. I asked one of them why they wanted to take it so badly on vacation...the reply "Jesus goes with you everywhere Daddy..."
My two are only four years old...and this frankly sort of floored me, in a Praise the Lord sort of way but floored me none the less.
So, I wouldn't dismiss your son's dream. Jesus certainly can and does interact with the little ones!

and I absolutely believe that Austins experience was genuine. I believe it with all my heart.

I agree regarding the special path little ones have with God.
Something that dawned on me one day when my kids were less than a year old was that they are not "my kids" but they are God's kids. He has merely trusted me as a steward to raise them. Similar to the idea that the money I have is not "mine" but God's money.
Personally, I take raising God loving / fearing kids pretty serious. Every day since mine were a year and a half old or so we have prayed with them and read them Bible stories every night before bed. It can be discouraging to try and get a two year old to sit and pray....good idea to get used to praying while ducking the toy flying at your head. But, then they turned a corner seems like pretty much over night.
One day when mine were three, one of them was sick so I had to go get him from day care. The poor little guy had a high fever and just looked like he didn't feel well. Started to take his shoes off of him so I could put him to bed after some tylenol. Be darned if he didn't look at me and say, "Daddy, I no feel good...you pray for me?" :clap
Now I ask them every night if they want to pray for something and they often tell me something like "pray for the new toy I got today" meaning they want to pray thank you for something they received...trying to teach them now to pray prayers of thanks and praise along with prayers of needs or wants. PTL, they are starting to understand to pray a prayer of thanks for blessings now as well.
I think kids understand more than we know. Have been truly blessed in that my "father in the Lord" or spiritual mentor if you will came along side me and encouraged me to begin training them up in the way they should go at a very young age. Honestly, I didn't believe little ones would "get it" that young. But he has three great kids, two of which are pastors now so I gave it a shot figuring it couldn't hurt to try.
My guess is that you did the same with your seven year old and may God richly bless you for it.
Favorite verses about raising kids for me are:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Deuteronomy 6:4-7
“Apply your heart to instruction, And your ears to words of knowledge. Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die. You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.” Proverbs 23:12-14

that is exactly right. i love those verses as well. teaching children from a very young age about Jesus is hard sometimes, but yet they seem to get it better than we do when they finally "get it". you know? your kiddo's sound like my three boys. they do know to reach out for the Lord when they are sick, or scared, or just want to say thank you. Im proud of them for knowing to do that and happy that they understand that there is a father that can hear them at all times. someday when they are young men, they will remember to call upon the Lord for their troubles and understand it.

Agree it is very hard to teach little ones some days, but try to stay dilligent. Not perfect by any means but do the best we can.
Glad you like the verses also. My personal favorite is the one from Deuteronomy...partly because it is part of the Shema but also because it was really practical for me.
The kids and I discuss Jesus / God alot as we work in the yard, play, etc. I have been surprised by the number of object lessons you can find for them just going through a day like normal. For example, "see how the track guides the hot wheel car? If you seek Him, God will guide your life in the same way to keep you going where you need to be...":):

UPDATE*******
My father was hospitalized last week (he is 75 years old) from a massive heart attack. This wasn't his first unfortunately, and we had a fear that this was the last we would see of our father because he was very ill. The whole family was at his bedside dreading the worst of the worst. Out of over 70 grandchildren, my dad asked for Austin to come to him. We took Austin in to see him and he had tears because his "pawpaw" is everything to him. He prayed for his pawpaw and asked Jesus to make him better even if for just a little while longer. He also reassured my father that if he did die, that he would go to a far better happy place and would see us all again soon.
As we left the room we returned to the waiting room with the family, Austin walked up to a man standing in a group of other people and tugged on his jacket. He asked the man to do him a favor. He said that even though he didn't know his pawpaw he was very sick and needed prayer. We looked on as he asked this absolute, complete stranger for prayer in amazement!!!
come to find out, this was a pastor. How did Austin know that this man in the crowd was a man of God? We cant figure this out yet, and it totally shocked several people who saw it happen.
The pastor did pray for our father as he was requested, and our father did have surgery that night. He is doing much better now and is home recovering. I just wanted to share that the Lord is good!!
I still dont understand how Austin knew that this man in the crowd was a pastor though..........he has the whole family scratching their heads on this one

"In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit;and they shall prophesy. And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day. Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Acts 2:17-21

What a blessing your son and his dream are. He led that young man to the Lord and he's just a babe himself. He's bold in his faith and so very wise. How proud and happy you must be.
God bless Austin and may He continue to use him to bless and encourage others.
What a sweet lamb you have!
