This wasn't exactly in line with the other thread here so I decided to start me own :heh because I didn't know how long it would be before I saw another one on Messianic Jews. First, I want to say that I have never visited a Messianic congregation, but one has just started in our city. Ironically, I had just finished a book entitled "Messianic Judaism is Not Christianity." by Stan Telchin (Chosen Books) while I was on vacation from the board (missed me, didn't you?).

Now, I don't want to start a war here or anything, but in my mind, the point Telchin was trying to make in the book is that Messianic congregations are OK as long as they stay centered on Jesus and are not afraid to openly identify themselves as part of the Church. The problem he perceived was when they tied to hard to be Jewish and not hard enough to be Christians. :confused

My question. How many of you have actually visited a messianic congregation or now go to one? If so, what is your impresssion of what Telchin has said? Do you see a "problem" with the one you went/go to? If so, what were/are they? What would be some things I could look for if I visited (not leaving my church, just curious) this new congregation to see if there are any problems?

Deity denial or deity-whocares-ism. Very prevalent in 'non Christian' messianic groups and IMO, the first line that many cross in their path to sacred name-ism and Hebrew Roots.
