Hi brothers and sisters in Christ,
I have been reading some fictions written by generally unbelieving Western people, and I have noticed in many stories there is an arrangement of "Fate" appearing as a person, arranging what's going to happen to the main characters, or that the characters are described as thinking "Fate is arranging this". It seems to me many authors vision "Fate" as an omnipotent and omnipresent person.
Now when we compare this with the biblical God, does it seem to you it has some god-like attributes and that these unbelievers subconsciously think that God is there, but would distort Him and call Him "Fate"? It seems to me they are avoiding the word God because it reminds them of Christianity and they don't believe the gospel, but they can't avoid the point of a supreme being and so decide to call that "Fate".
What do you think about this?
YBIC,
Joel
