I'm going to put up two quotes. One is from a famous liberal Christian, the other is a famous conservative Christian. Can you guess who is who?

Clearly change in both liturgy and structure is inevitable, and this change will probably be radical, if not total. ... the forms the Church assumed in the past inevitably must die.

When a thing grows weak and out of date, it is obviously soon going to disappear. That's also true of churches. If a church cannot change, it will eventually die.

Immaterial as to who is who. Neither one has a biblical conception of what the real church is or of whom it is constituted. IMO (matt. 16.18)

1) Shelby Spong.

2) Rick Warren.

Am I right?

Don't know about the first one - Spong sounds good - but I agree the second is likely Rick Warren. And the thought that Rick Warren is representing conservative Christianity. . . yike. According to the media, he's the most likely replacement for Billy Graham as Christianity's leading voice. Franklin Graham is too fundamental and has the stigma of having called Islam an evil religion (according to ABC news). Warren has the advantage of name recognition and none of the baggage that comes along with being seen as a fundamentalist.

Yes you are. Funny how these two gentlemen sound eerily similar.
