View Full Version : Imagery in your Dreams: Bible related or not?

Hello. I wanted to talk about what kind of imagery is persistent in your dreams.

Let me first say that I don't believe all dreams have to be God talking to me, but there are some that really get me thinking.

So, here are some of the imagery that I have in my dreams and are watchful when specific ones keep repeating over and over again.

1. Alligator
2. T-Rex
3. Elevators that defy the laws of gravity (meaning they go in all directions, not just up and down)
4. Flying
5. Electricity (power cables)
6. Rapture

These are some of the most common things I dream about...

Care to share yours? Remember is mostly the images you have in your dreams as opposed to the whole dream itself.

Thanks. :wave

FYI: if you haven't looked into it, there are books on dreams that explain what those symbols represent.

Yes, I have. Thank you. I was wanting to know about other's dream imagery. What is most persistent or keeps coming back in their dreams.

For me the most prevalent images are
1. narrow, winding, high bridges that go over some kind of port
2. narrow, winding mountain trails that end up in a steep decline
3. being in a some sort of a roller coaster ride with nothing under me, and I almost fall out (usually over water)

Weird, huh? :laugh

:lol My recurrant dream is of getting a bunch of fish and aquarium setups, and then suddenly realizing that I had forgotten about them, sometimes for years. When I go back, they're mutated into horrible things in tanks full of black sludge and they sometimes can "swim" through the air to get to me. It's actually pretty terrifying, and it's like I know I have to face them as punishment for not taking care of them.

Last night I had a new version, that didn't end so bleakly... in it, the fish and stuff were still alive and normal, except for a "rabbit" fish that looked just like a tiny furry rabbit. :lol I tried to feed it in "time" but the pellet I put into the tank made the water turn red and foamy, and the rabbit fish swallowed it all and puffed up with gas. I pulled it out and took care of it until I cleaned the tank and got it back to normal.

Personally, I believe in dream symbolism, but not as far as prophecy etc (tho I do believe that God speaks to us in dreams... long and different story tho). I think our subconcious does attribute different symbols and the dreams do reflect personal worries, problems, or joys we have. I'm all for the psychological bent of "dream intepretation" but against any occult spin on them.

I personally would not get on another roller coaster, if I were you. No use asking to go home early, is there?

Anticipation

I cant remember the last time I remembered a dream. I have been praying to God alot lately about the end times and asked if he could show me what we may be in for.

Last night I dreamed about an aquarium I had. The aquarium kept leaking and I could not find the leak. I couldn't even see where the water was going. The water drained very quickly and I kept adding water. Then I moved the fish to a bowl so I could examine the tank. While the fish were in the bowl, it kept losing water. Sometimes, the fish were sticking out of the water and some died. I was going to get a new tank for the fish with all new equipment.

God revealed to me that we are like the fish. We are going to be going through some really rough times but he is still going to watch over us, we may be uprooted for a time but soon we will be going to a new "home".

Thank you Lord for this dream!

My re-occuring images are:

bridges.....sometimes they are long and winding, but usually they are very low over a body of water - - so low you can reach down and touch the water. The bridge dreams have happed since my childhood.

elevators......this one is usually, there is a fear of it falling or something. This one is fairly new (only the last few years)

As for the most common imagery, lately it would be:
spiders
hiking trails
being at some sort of Christian retreat (which I normally don't go on)
being lost in a huge building

There was one recent dream that's fairly easy to interpret:

I was in a car with some people (?) going up a mountain, but it was taking a long time. That part of the uphill climb represented the "Clinton era." We got to the top and someone said "He didn't leave many trees." I looked around and said "Yeah, but the ones that he left are pretty." From the top of the mountain, we could see sunlight through the trees and it looked like up ahead was a wonderful, glorious, heavenly place. That represented the Bush era. We had to wait for a train to go by before we could cross over, but then it was going to be downhill. Anyone who wasn't dazzled by the light would be able to realize that. I think the train meant the future is coming too slow, but it was going to be downhill in the Bush era although it looked like it was going to be just wonderful.

I'm too embarassed to tell you my imagery - you'll think I'm some sort of a crazy person. I have crazy, crazy dreams.

I'll just let it go at that except I do have a couple recurring dreams that are common I think.......water, bridges, trains, and my favorite treasure hunting.

Does anyone know what significance, if any, there is when people talk in their sleep? I do that a lot. I also had a recent experience where I rolled out of bed - about killed myself trying to escape some guy who was trying to kill me. :freaked

Dreams are dreams.

I dream of toadstools, Marshmello animals, Goats in my bathtub, talking flowers, Paper ships, and pink hippos. Care to analize them ?
