Sorry for the double post, but my first attempt I got an error, and now only the subject line shows up. I can't edit it or delete it or reply to it or anything... :wacko
Anyhow... for at least the third time:
In church today we were talking about the sovereignty of God, and how before the foundations of the universe were laid, Jesus knew he would die for our sins.
But I was wondering, when do you suppose Jesus in his human form fully understood who he is and what he was going to do on the cross? Do you think he knew even as a child, or was it only fully revealed to him while he was in the desert preparing for his ministry?

I suspect He had some idea by age 12. when 'all who heard Him (in the Temple) were astonished at His understanding and answers'.

Omniscient
Somehow I beileve he knew as he was God, yet man. For us to explain this is impossible. Good question for heaven!

I think he always knew. Even when he was a tiny baby.

I think that He had a growing knowledge.
Some people today teach that He didn't know that He was divine. I can't swallow that.

God is God, wether he was in a babies body, or a man's.

speculation as to when jesus knew is not nessary as wether he knew or not at the time he was baptized by John all who witnessed were sure he was without a doubt the Anoited one as it was at that time he was anoited by the hand of his father when the Holy Ghost accended on him like a dove..
and the voice from above said this is my son in whom I am well pleased..

It says in scripture that he was slain before the foundation of the world.
One of the gentlemen asked me on Shabbat when I thought that Messiah built His house, and when He was slain.
Unsure of what he was fishing for exactly, and I said "Beresheit, In the beginning".
In the Beginning (Genesis 1:1) we are shown an enlarged Bet/Beit which means house in hebrew. Beresheit = In the beginning.
But the beginning of the first line is "Beresheith Bara El-him Et.."
In the beginning created G-d Aleph Tav..
In essence that says that everything that was to be done and created, was set in motion in the beginning. Including the abode of the Creator, the heavens and the earth, and the fact that the Lamb of G-d was slain before the foundation of the world.
IMHO, He always knew, even when He was a baby on this earth.

This is the same kind of annointing a New High Preist would receive from His Father before beginning in the Temple Service; and we are told that Y'shua is our High Preist in Heaven.
Any wonder this was said of Him? He had to know beforehand for this to occur...

Do you think he knew even as a child, or was it only fully revealed to him while he was in the desert preparing for his ministry? The whole topic of Christology is very deep and I just have never spent much time there.
I agree with Hootmon that He had some idea by age 12.
Scripture is very sparse when it comes to the non-essentials.

I do believe he always knew because he gave this response to his parents:
Luk 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
This tells me that he had a clear understanding of the mission before him.

I think he always knew. Even when he was a tiny baby. Not denying His omniscience as God, He limited Himself when He took on humanity (Philip 2:5-8). Given this limiting (kenosis) He certainly wasn't Omnipresent, but to get back on topic, if He was omniscient as a baby (not to mention as a young man), please explain the following verse:"And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." (Luke 2:52, NASB95)
