This just happened to cross my mind. When we judge the Angels, will we be judging our particular Guardian Angel on how well they protected us?

On what are you basing the theological existence of individual/particular Guardian Angels?

I have a LOT to thank my angel for! And my kid's angels.

I believe in angels.

I believe angels render service for and on behalf of beleivers. I do not believe in Guardian Angels.

I do not believe the Bible teachers that we each have our own angels whose duty it is to serve or protect us individually.

what about this verse?

Matthew 18:10 "Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

I think we will judge fallen angels.

I'm not basing anything on anything. It was a random thought. I'm not sure whether or not I believe in specific guardian angels. When the thought popped into my head, I figured this would be the perfect forum in which to pose the question.

As far as I know this is as close as Scriptures gets. It certainly teaches that angels can be employed to guard believers, but I don't see anything that constrains me to believe the one-on-one, angel to believer, guardianship ratio. Furthermore, it says their angels are in heaven; well if they are on the job guarding these kids, what are they doing in heaven?

I know the whole Guardian Angel thing preaches well, and is particularly attractive when we think of kids.

I wonder how the whole thing plays out practically, or statistically? Here's what I mean: Do angels guard all kids or just believers? If you say all kids then we have a geographical problem since kids from some countries certainly suffer much more than other kids. But if we say Guardian Angels are just assigned to believing children, then we should see a statistical benefit - particularly in countries where dangers are greater.

I understand that - sorry to highjack the thread. I agree with Whirlwind, I think the passage in reference is to judging fallen angels.

What did Jesus mean when he said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand?" If the Kingdom is at hand, then how can the guardian angels be too far away to watch over us? Just a thought.

This is a bit pre-mature, but what would be your judgment on the fallen angels and what punishment would you assign to them?

Just a thought.I think Jesus meant he was at hand, or the offer of the Kingdom was at hand for them. I don't think this id germane to the discussion on angels.

Psalms 91:11 "For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone."

I interpret this scripture to say that God has appointed angels (plural) to watch over us.

I don't think one could be closer to truth if they Tried :)

"The Kingdom is at hand" If one puts out there hand to you in a way to hold it in a time of Trouble and sarrow They are at hand You Reach out and take that Hand..

Remember this

Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

also found in 1ch 29:11, psa 145:11,dan2:37

The Kingdom is at hand all one needs to do is reach out and Embrace it Christ is the way Thine is The kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

God said we would judge angels in heaven but me personally I would not like to do that because I have faults of my own and can understand temptation Iam not one to judge others but I have to do gods will he has reasons I don't understand.

I don't think anyone ever flatly said they were "good" enough to judge any type of angel.
Do people here not read the actual posts anymore?

I Corinthians 6:2-3 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Regarding the judging of angels, I believe that this is what the verse refers to:

II Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

I believe that the judging of angels in I Corinthians refers to fallen angels, which are awaiting judgement. The "hell" of II Peter 2:4 comes from the Greek "Tartarus," and is the only usage of that word, implying that it is in a separate location/area, awaiting future judgment.

I have found the tendency to read them... then read into them... then respond to the most extreme example of what they have read into the original.

For example, if you say "I read a report that an member of the IDF accidently shot a 6 year old playing soccer," the inevitable response will be "You mean to tell me Israel has no right to defend herself when attacked by hordes of Arabs?" Which will eventually be followed by "So, you've never read the Bible have you?'

Just an example.

Of course we will be "good enough" to judge angels. This event comes after the resurrection when we have received our new bodies. Are you still gonna mope around heaven for all eternity saying you are not "good enough" for whatever position God gives you? :confused

There is a pretty clear scripture in Hebrews 1.14:
"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister to them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

The Hebrews reference is pretty clear that Angels have a ministry that benefits "Them who shall be heirs of salvation.." That's what I had in mind when I wrote: "It certainly teaches that angels can be employed to guard believers..."

But this passage says nothing about what they do, nor how long they do it, nor how many people actually receive their service.

In other words, this passage does not teach that every believer, or child, or person has a guardian angel.

Agreed. You've heard myriad stories of saved people escaping death closely before being saved, as I have. I think these angels are charged with keeping people until they are born again, at which time the indwelling Holy Spirit is their Guide and Enabler.

Much of the book of Hebrews in particular is written to and for the benefit of a group to whom "Salvation" is going to mean being "kept alive". Saving one's skin and not their soul.

To wit the guardian angel concept ...
