View Full Version : Trusting your gun

What is it your trust?
Do you trust yourself to protect yourself? Is there a gun waiting for your enemy? Who do you trust more yourself or God?

Can you tell me where Jesus teaches that you need a gun to protect yourself?

Luke 11.21-22. I love the Lord, and Smith and Wesson are friends of mine to help defend my house. The Lord never told us not to defend ourselves and our families, friend.

Hilbilly willi, I've read alot of your posts in the last 10 minutes.

I noticed a trend, you are very anti-violence, are you a pacifist? That is fine if you don't like violence but, your posts need a little more, elaboration, theyre a little too philisophical for everyone.

We are to take care of what God blesses us with, not be overrun by the enemy. I will not let anyone hurt my children and neither should you.

At the risk of His own body, Jesus entered into the synagogue and faced the Pharisees, right in their midst brought a man with a withered hand to the center and healed him. Before He did that 'HE LOOKED ROUND ABOUT ON THEM WITH ANGER', being grieved at their hardness of heart. (Mark 3.5) No guns, knives or anything, but the 'iniquity of the Amorites has come nearly full, IMO, and today, you'd better lock your door at night. Reasonable self defense is the law guaranteed by the Constitution of these United States.

Or the equivalent............

Supplies for the Road
35And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?"
So they said, "Nothing."

36Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: "And He was numbered with the transgressors.'[a] For the things concerning Me have an end."

If someone dies by a sword or by a gun, that person is still DEAD, wouldn't you agree? Jesus himself said go get a sword..............why was that you think?

Do you eat everyday or do you trust Jesus to keep you from being hungry?

Do you work, or do you trust for things to just happen (ie rent paid, food bought, electric turned on, internet services paid for)?

Luk 22:35-36
(35) And he said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, and wallet, and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing.
(36) And he said unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

Not saying you need a gun, but when David entered battle he did it with a slongshot and some carefully selected stones.

If God calls you to enter battle are you going to enter it naked with no weapon other than your fists?

You know very well that what you quoted is Millennial Law for those in the
1000 years. (Matthew 5-7.) I realize there is secondary application, but it is not TO US in this age of grace.

Everyone else has "stolen my thunder".

Yshua said to get a sword for personal protection once he left his disciples. There's reason for it. It's not so we go and murder... but so that if someone were to try to murder us, that we are able to protect ourselves.

Today-- our mode of "sword" is either a knife or a gun. I have neither at this time.. but I wouldn't mind my hands being my sword :evil - i could take personal defense classes ;):

You know as well as I, this has to do with personal fights, and not someone trying to commit homicide.

The reason free societies exist is because people at some point had weapons to defend themselves. That's why in the U.S. the Constitution states that the people have the right to bear arms. Since the law shows that one can defend himself (Ex 22), that God has not prevented us from doing so.
