Does God speak to us often in dreams?

I am asking this question seriously. I want to say concretely that I do believe God speaks to us through dreams from time to time...but I sometimes wonder how often He does it, and if all the dreams we dream are really from Him? And, how do you know a dream really is from God?

The reason I'm asking this is because I had a dream last night that is troubling me, and I can't shake it today. It was not the usual kind of dream...It's been with me all day.

I have had dreams, as have several of my friends, and my fiance where G-d has shown us direction in where we should go.

I won't go into detail here, because I know these are all very private situations G-d has dealt with me on, and with my friends as well.

Not always are my dreams "prophetic" if you want to put it that way.. most are the oh-so-tired-mind-working-overtime deals.. so I can completely see the difference when G-d is saying something over my tummy or overactive imagination. iykwim:gossip
