Hi all: :D:

I remember a discussion a while back that mentioned the verse that talks about the emptiness we have inside of us (our spirit) that can only be filled by God.

It does not mention it specifially, ie: "Jesus can only fill this hole", or "God can only fill this hole". But it pretty much says that we have a void or an empty space that was meant to be filled by God. I think it might be in Psalms but not sure.

Anyone remember or know the verse(s)??

I was just witnessing to someone at work and could not remember this verse. I was basically telling him that we typically go through life trying to fill this empty feeling inside. I told him that this empty feeling can only be filled by the presence of God (Holy Spirit).

(Oh....and please do not get into discussions pertaining to filling this hole in order to be saved - I just surfed those threads which mention the old saying, 'God shaped hole' and how many people were not saved because they only tried to fill the hole rather than repenting....this is not about that! :wacko )

Thanks for any help....

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Is that the one you're thinking of?

Thanks for the verse Maranatha, but that's not it. :(:

This is really bugging me! I remember reading the thread, thinking that, "Gosh! There is a verse that talks about a void in our soul!", but I can't for the life of me remember it.

I'm sure some Ranger will know it :thumb

I've heard that phrase before, but I always thought it was just an illustration to help the unsaved understand, not a verse from the Bible. The closest passages I know of are Psalm 42:1-2 and Psalm 63:1-2.

After searching for this verse, it struck me that the verse I am looking for may talk about, or was interpreted, to identify the fact that our spirit was meant to be filled with the Holy Spirit.....does this help anyone to remember???? :confused

Perhaps:

Psalms 107:9 (KJV)
(9) For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Matthew 5:6 (KJV)
(6) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Luke 12:16-20
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (KJV)
