I have a problem. I trusted a fellow with some cash to purchase a car for me. As collateral, we signed a contract of him transfering his car to my name, until the deal was done. Now this is in Hungarian forints of 1.3 million. That is, ironicly, $6666, if converting it with todays exchange rate of 195 to 1. Anyway the guy split with my cash and the car. I took the contract to an attorney and he said this case is won. All I have to do is pay him his fee and away we go. My question is, would this go against Gods Word. I mean I gave him PLEANTY of time to give it back and its been about 3.5 years. I really need this money now, since I was also unemployed for most of last year, and I have some debts. Please give me your opinions.

Is this person a believer? Scripture says we should try to work out our differences with brothers/sisters in Christ before going to court. I'm trying to find the scripture verse for you.
Have you prayed and gotten a peace about this?

I don't think he's a believer, and definatly not a brother. Over the years I heard he stole from a lot of people. And yes I prayed over this allot, asking the Lord to soften his heart, to were he would pay me back on his own, but nothing. I was more than patient, giving him many chances to pay it back, even if it was montly. Nope nada. I am perfectly at peace with turning to the law. That is what they are for and why I pay my taxes.

I work in the legal field. I see many frivilous cases come past my desk. People who want to make a fast buck or cause trouble out of anger.
But anyway. IMO scripture tells us not to sue bretheren. If this person stole from you and others, chances are he's not a brother. Just becuse we are christian doesn't mean we are supposed to allow ourselves to be taken advantage of.
We are also told to obey the laws of man. You have a contract. He breached it. The law provides a remedy for you to set the situation right.
I also think God has answered your prayers. He did not repent and return the money to you.
I see nothing wrong with you getting your money back.
