Ok guys I really need you to pray for me. God has revealed it to me that I must talk to my family (mom dad and sister). They are all in a cult called The Way. Well.. They're not IN the organization anymore, but they hold to the same beliefs. Sometime this week (after doing all the reasearch and Word study I possibly can) I am going to sit down with all of them and show them specific verses (over 50 I've found so far) that disprove their rejection of Jesus Christ as God.

This is going to be very hard for me, because I am only 19 years old and my mom and dad have been involved with these beliefs for over 20 years. But I know if I don't atleast show them the Truth, I will never forgive myself. I know that it is up to them to reject or accept it, but it is going to be over my dead body that my family goes to Hell for all eternity, if I have something to do with it. Christ wants all the know the REAL Him, my family is just blinded by so much "history" with these beliefs.

I am sorry, I am just so frustrated with this. Sometimes I wish they had no beliefs at all, it might be easier. :(:

I guess the reason I am posting (in addition to venting a little on my part), is that I want everyone who reads this to please pray for me that God will give me the wisdom to know what to say. And also that, while I am studying His Word this week, He will guide me to the Truth so that I can teach them what God truly says, and not some man who "knew" what God meant (Dr. Paul Weirwille... the cult leader :mad ).

Also, has anyone had to do this before? Any advice? Ok well thanks a lot! :):

Praying for you.

From my own experiences, talking these things is like talking about someone's Mom. You're right, it isn't easy. My advice is to somehow lead them to come to conclusions on their own...such as, I see what you're saying but how is this accounted for? Let them try to reconcile it in their own minds.

Don't take rebuttals personally, it is especially hard when family members bring up something trivial from years ago to try and discount what you're saying (remember when you were three and spilt milk? things like that) The holy spirit will guide you in saying the right things, don't worry about saying it 'the best way'. Don't expect immediate results, let what you say knock around in their heads for a while.

What you are doing is very brave and so very right and very loving of you. We know why you are doing so but they might not see it that way. Someday they'll know exactly why you are bringing this to them, remember God will use you to lead, but it is their free will on what to do with it. Pray for them, pray for God to work on their hearts, He is so powerful!! :clap

God bless! :):

Ok so I just got finished about an hour ago talking with my mom about it. I felt it went nowhere. She is honestly deceived... I gave her specific verses where it talks about how Jesus received worship (Matt 5:25, 28:9; Hebrews 1:6), even in the OT Jesus is called God (Isa. 9:6, 7:14, Jer 23:5-6, etc..), that the reason the Jews crucified Him was bc He was making himself equal with God (John 8:57-59, 5:17-26), etc etc etc!!!!! The entire time I made sure to keep my cool. I knew God helped me there. The whole time, though, she said that I had to look it up in the Greek and that a lot of things were mistranslated into the KJV. I was like, this is possible, but I doubt God would allow something as serious as the DEITY of Christ, the hope of our salvation, be mistranslated! But she straight up told me, "I WILL NEVER BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST IS GOD." I said... Ok. But consider yourself warned.

She then just started cussing at me.. f this, gd that... I said, Mom, if you truly have the Holy Ghost in you, do you really think you would be saying these things? (she cusses all the time anyway, uses Lords name in vain, etc and never seems to be convicted) I said the Bible says to test your spirit to make sure it is of THE Spirit. Thats one thing I never understood about them. They say they are Christians yet they are very worldly and have been "saved" for 30+ years (way longer than Ive been alive) yet I have more sense to act better than they.

I won't give up though :):

Don't give up. Keep on trying. Give them a little bit of milk at a time.
They aren't ready for meat, yet.

You are in my prayers.

And just because she didn't agree with you, doesn't mean she didn't listen.
She'll think about it.
God said that His word goes out and accomplishes what He wants it to.
Give it time. The seed has been planted.

:clap Good for you, you are so brave! I believe this is one way to earn crowns in heaven. It is amazing how many people say they are Christians but spend no time in the word, I feel bad at how they are missing out and I feel so fortunate to belong to the church that studies the entire bible in-depth.

I got into an argument with my own mom a couple years ago about homosexuality, not that it's a salvation issue but she didn't think there was anything wrong with it. When I told her that God considers it a sin, she accused me of thinking I was better than a homosexual. I said of course not but God considers it wrong and told her the scriptures that address it. She said in her church (methodist) they didn't pay any attention to the OT, Revelations and she didn't really like the Apostle Paul since he condoned slavery :wacko Sort of bible ala carte! It is amazing the misconceptions floating around. After a few more discussions with my Mom, she did start seeing truth in what I was telling her.

I'm praying for the Holy Spirit to convict your Mom, that she considers what you told her and realizes you are telling her these things out of love.

They say they are Christians....

If they don't believe in the Deity of Jesus CHRIST, why do they call themselves Christians? :wacko

probably the same reason why people who DON'T EVEN KNOW who Jesus is, consider themselves Christians....

That just boggles my mind...

Welcome to the club. Talking to cultists ain't fun, it ain't easy, and it takes more time and patience than you can possibly imagine. But it needs to be done. God bless.
