We've been searching for a church since leaving our purpose-driven church in September. The search had started to feel hopeless.
We attended a small SBC church today, and I am so happy. It was very warm and felt like a family. The pastor almost seemed "too" happy, he was so joyful. The music was a mix of old and new, hymns and choruses, and seemed heartfelt. The sermon was wonderful. And at the end, two little girls from different families came forward and said they had been saved at home that week. The pastor was so happy, the church sang a song about being in the family of God, and the atmosphere was almost party-like. The pastor had all the church members who had ever taught or worked with those girls, and all their family members and friends, come stand with them at the end of the service.
This was the most loving, childlike group of Christians I have ever been in. No snobbery, no worry about numbers, no PDC/L, just a group of sinners saved by grace, rejoicing and praising God.
I think maybe we'll go back :): .
